CIDCO’s RFQ attracts Four
Global Giants for Navi Mumbai
Airport Development

NAVI MUMBAI: Prior
to the closure of Request for Qualification
(RFQ) applications on
January 28, 2015, CIDCO received four applications from major
national and international players requesting qualification to be
eligible to bid for the
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA)
project.
There seems to be a
major competition from
the global giants to bag
the concession for development of Navi Mumbai Airport.
Applications for
qualification have been
received from the Mumbai International Air-
the top 10 airports of
the world by Skytrax
and MIA Infrastructure
Pvt. Ltd. a company
promoted by Vinci Airports International SA,
owners and operators of
ports Private Limited
(MIAL), the present developer and operator of
CSIA, GMR Airports
Ltd. – operating the airports at New Delhi,
Hyderabad and Mactan
Chebu, Philippines,
Consortium
of
Hiranandani Group
and Zurich Airport,
Switzerland, an airport
ranked consistently in
airports in Portugal including the Lisbon airport and Tata Realty
and Infrastructure Limited.
As per the RFQ, the
list of pre-qualified applicants is expected to
be declared before
March 31, 2015. The
pre-qualified applicants
shall be eligible to participate in the bid stage
of the The global tender
notice inviting Request
for Qualification for the
development of the
Greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on PPP
was floated on February
5, 2014. The Ministry
of Civil Aviation
(MoCA), in December
2014, approved the
shared till for NMIA at
par with CSIA (Mumbai
Airport).
The threshold technical, financial and operations capacity of bidders mandated in the
RFQ for development of
NMIA were expected to
handle the capacity of
60 million passengers
per annum (MPPA). It
was structured in such
a way to attract capable and serious national and international
airport developers.

Standing Committee approves
the proposal costing ` 65 lakhs

CBD-BELAPUR: NMMC’s Standing Committee approved three
important civic works
on Thursday.
There is a stretch of
land admeasuring
31,029.84 sq meters in
the high tension
electric wires in
Sector-4, Airoli.
Happily, the
stretch is free
from any encroachment or debris
dumping so far. NMMC
has drawn up a proposal for developing it into
a green corridor. The
work is estimated to
cost Rs 65.46 lakhs and
the Standing Committee gave its approval on
Thursday. The project
will also include provid-
ing a chain link fencing
to the corridor, laying a
jogging track and a cycling track and planting flowering trees and
bushes.
Another proposal
pertained to the relaying the road between
the
Shani
Mandir Mahadwar and Reliance Fresh in
Sector-5 Nerul.
The proposal
costing Rs 51.09 lakhs
was also passed by the
Standing Committee.
By a third resolution, it
approved a project to
repair and beautify
some stretches of the
foot path in Sector-15
Vashi. The work is estimated to cost Rs 87.04
lakhs.

Uncle charged with land
theft of deceased brother

TURBHE: A man has
been charged of theft of
land from his nephew
by forging signatures
and documents in the
name of his deceased
brother and transferring the property to his
name in Turbhe.
The nephew who
has lodged the complaint, Pinto Patil is
the son of the deceased
brother Yashwant Patil under whose name
the property was under. His uncle, the accused Datu Patil with
the help of his son Srikant Patil had forged
his deceased brother’s
signature and documents to transfer his
property which was to
inherited by the vic-
tim Pinto into the accused uncle’s name.
The property owned
by Pinto’s grandmother was divided into
three under proprietorship of land no.296

the
grandmother
Dharmibai Patil, land
no.297 which was
owned by Pinto’s deceased father Yashwant Patil and land
no.298 which was
owned by the accused
Datu Patil. Yashwant
Patil who had been deceased since 2nd February 1988 was faked
to be alive in 1990 by
his brother Datu so
that he would produced fake documents
with forged signature
of his deceased broth-
er and get approval
from CIDCO to own all
three combined land
under his brother ’s
name, which included
making changes in
original deed and forging notarized announcement
etc.
When victim Pinto
Patil inquired about
the mentioned documents with Cidco’s information department
and NMMC’s town
planning department,
he was shocked that
he was cheated by his
Uncle.
Hence APMC police
have registered a case
against the uncle, his
son and CIDCO’s officers who helped in forwarding the documents.
Burglar attempts at stealing,
gets caught by residents

GHANSOLI: In a
bemusing incident,
one out of a trio of
burglars attempting
to break in a house in
Chinchaali area in
Ghansoli were caught
by the resident and
handed over to the
cops on Thursday.
The thief along
with his two associates was trying to
burgle the Ghansoli
resident Ramesh
Madhvi’s house in
Chinchaali area in
wee hours of Thursday. As the trio
entered the house,
home owner Madhvi
who was in the
upstairs apartment
during the incident
heard the commotion
from his house. As he
became aware of the
burglary going
downstairs he contacted his relatives
who lived just down
below his apartment,
they came to his aid
to catch the thieves.
Due to the commotion caused, neighborhood residents too
joined in and caught
one of the fleeing
burglars. As the
caught robber was
beaten with the inch
of his life, his associates managed to
escape.
The residents
accordingly handed
him over to Rabale
Police’s custody who
have started interrogating him in order
to find his two
associates.

was once a rich paper mill owner, he had disguised
himself as a charming man but is a controlling demon within. Jaidev is currently unwell, bed-ridden
and forcefully makes Meera run this guesthouse.
Kabir begins to encounter unusual things and
discover secrets about the house and Meera. Meera
is evasive about these suspicious incidents that are
taking place, which if he finds out, would threaten
to destroy her. The more Kabir interacts with
Meera about these strange incidents the more he
gets drawn towards her. He begins to get confused
whether these incidents that are taking place are
for real or whether he’s imagining things. He tries
to find an explanation to these encounters and to
understand the mystery behind this woman that he’s
getting uncontrollably drawn to.

the Times of India in the
year of Indian Independence, 1947 he breathed
his last on the Republic
Day!
This Ninogenerian
was unique ,as whatever his sketch lines or
his written lines conveyed , they assumed a
‘classic’ status, for the
simple reason that
whatever they conveyed
then, is as much or
more relevant today despite the multifarious
changes one can track
ever since!
Remaining non-controversial at all times,
despite the very many
poky digs he made at
the powers that be, never in favor or fear of any
one, R.K. stood on a lofty
pedestal of the COMMON MAN! Simple and
humble, harassed and
harried but sensible and
sensitive common man,
always a witness to all
times, good and bad, yet
unfailing, especially
never the one to fail himself!
A strange balance of
emotion and sentiment,
ideas and ideals, care
and concern at the ‘never really good’ or awful
and worrisome state of
affairs, encapsulated in
the brevity of his selected chosen words, at the
base of his pocket size il-
lustrations make him
the single most ICONIC artist of all times.
A lot of media people
hailing from different
segments have started
training the new and
young aspirants, to be
groomed for future
work. Alas! If there existed a College of Cartooning that could train
future cartoonists, it
would be possible to ensure the sharpness of a

no need to glorify freedom of the press without the responsibility of

Space! That there is a

persons or personalities!
Never hitting at religious beliefs or various
Faiths, he had his own
way to perhaps express
even ignoble things in a
noble way! That the Social conscience needs to
be nudged and reminded firmly and neither
slapped violently nor
beaten below the belt
was his express belief!

powerful thinking and
appropriate penning,

Obama’s visit has tremendously
boosted Indo-US relations
The India-U.S. relationship is the ‘defining partnership’ of this century. US President Barack Obama
rightly pointed out all the similarities between the two
nations: as diverse, multi-religious, tolerant democracies that respect human rights. It is great to witness Obama displaying keen interest in the future of
India-U.S. ties. The main features of the talks between
the two were the joint statement, declaration of friendship, and a strategic vision for the Asia-Pacific region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi undoubtedly made a
good move by inviting the US President Obama for
the Republic Day parade
President Obama’s gesture in accepting to be the
Chief Guest at the R-Day parade and that too at a short
notice, and the general atmosphere of goodwill and
friendship that prevailed during the visit between him
and PM Modi certainly raises substantial hopes of a
bright future for both the countires in particular and
the Asian scenario in general. Once trust and goodwill are established between the heads of States - as is
obviousoy the case between Obama and Modi - issues get sorted out speedily in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual wellbeing.
Visit of Obama is a welcome step to strengthen the
ties between India and US. It shows the importance of
the relationship that India holds with US and at the
same time provide opportunity to increase trade and
defence agreements. The centerpiece of the discussion was on nuclear deals for which the hurdle was
removed was a welcome step by both India and US.
President Obama’s criticism of Russia while in India, calling it “a bully”, did not surprise many. The
vision statement on the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean
region is likely to keep China under control, as it seeks
to portray an India-U.S. front against diplomatic, economic and security challenges in the region. On the
business side, there was a resolve to expand trade
ties and a $4-billion commitment from the U.S. in investment and loans. Indo-Asian relationships are redefined as the India is becoming a key player in climate change initiatives and new renewable energy
projects with US help are initiated.
There is a media news that China is going to invite
Russian President Putin as the Chief Guest for China’s military day celebration. Though one could compare the personal relationship between Modi and
Obama with the friendship between Nehru and
Kennedy in the sixties, the major shift in India’s relationship towards Russia occurred by the assassination of Kennedy and the emergence of total negativity
to the USA by the display of gunboat diplomacy by
Nixon towards India were the factors of necessity of
then India in 20th century.
The opening of a new chapter in the relationship
between India and the USA is the realization of the
everlasting values of two large democracies where the
fight against terrorism, climate control, the mutual interest in exchange of knowledge in Science & Technology and above all the image and the impact created by Modi that the USA can’t get any other true partner other than India in South East Asia for the USA’s
global supremacy – these are Modi’s achievements.
