Would all parishioners of Surfers Paradise Parish who are attending workshops in other Parishes please RSVP to our Parish Office 5572 5433 or email [email protected] Lent begins Wednesday [18th February]. Lent is a penitential season of prayer, self-denial and helping others. In this way, the whole Church prepares for Easter with those who are to be baptised. Other celebrations in Lent (e.g. marriage) must take account of the spirit of penance: musical instruments are only used to sustain singing and floral decorations are very simple. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. The law of fasting binds those who have completed their eighteenth year, until the beginning of their sixtieth year; the law of abstinence binds those who have completed their fourteenth year. (CCL 97, 1251-52). From ORDO 2015 Thank you to those parishioners who have been sending contact details through regarding their availability for the liturgy rosters. Keep them coming! There are not a great many ‘new’ names, so if you are keen to be involved but are maybe a little shy at putting your own name forward, please contact me via email [email protected] or phone to have a chat. Also, if there are people around who you think would be great at being involved, but just need to be invited or asked, please send me the name and contact details, and I will approach them confidentially. We are still seeking roster coordinators for the Stella Maris 5pm Saturday, 7am Sunday and 8.30am Sunday Masses. Please contact me via the Parish Office if you are interested. The Lenten Program Rich in Mercy commences week beginning 16th February. There has been a minimal response from parishioners to join a Lenten Group. Please seriously consider forming or joining group to gather together to spiritually prepare for the Easter celebrations, the high point of our Catholic year. Please contact the Parish Office 5572 5433 or email [email protected] to leave your name and contact number if you would like to be involved. Peace and grace. Sue Thomas, Pastoral Associate.
