UpFront - a new service specifically targeting homeless youth Community Links Wollondilly in partnership with Cabramatta Community Centre will deliver UpFront Youth Services. UpFront is aimed at young people aged between 12 and 18 and covers an area from Fairfield to Bowral. Community Links Wollondilly youth services officer Luke Roki will provide intervention support to help restore young people with their families as well as crisis support, throughout the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas. Young people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless are some of the most vulnerable people in our community. They can be placed in a position of great stress and isolation which can lead to further entrenchment of social problems and health issues. Young people without stable accommodation are also very vulnerable to negative influence from others and being taken advantage of. The UpFront program aims to provide support so young people can better address issues and barriers and are placed in a better position to live more independently in the future. This will also include (where appropriate) working with families over a short period of time to see if problems leading to homelessness can be overcome. Homelessness can take many forms but broadly mean to be without stable accommodation. This includes those sleeping on the streets, in parks, derelict buildings, cars and trains. It also includes those temporarily staying with other households — couch surfing or frequently moving between short term accommodation services. Those living without the security of a tenure or in inadequate accommodation such as boarding houses and caravans also fall below community standards for housing. If you or someone you know is experiencing or at risk of homelessness and would like support please contact Community Links on 46832776 or drop into Tahmoor Community Centre. CLW benefits from Charity Golf Day Community Links Wollondilly was delighted to receive a donation from the recent charity golf day held at Antill Park Country Golf Club in Picton. Angus Taylor Federal Member for Hume and Jai Rowell Member for Wollondilly held the day to raise funds for local charities. CLW will be putting the $2,500 donation towards projects and programs that will benefit the Wollondilly community.
