Walking Club
Walks will be held on Wednesday mornings and will be about an hour in length.
Most walks will be on the trail from Sheppard’s Bush parking lot since this is the
most well-used in the winter and tends to be in better condition. If weather permits,
we may try some other trails as well as the Sheppard’s Bush to Vandorf Sideroad
trail. We will not walk if the trail gets icy or if the weather is bad. If in doubt, check
with the Reception Desk (905) 726-4767 early Wednesday morning. We meet at
9:30 am at the Seniors Centre and car pool to the starting location. No preregistration is required, just show up. We are always looking for eager members to

Book Club
This month we read “The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared” by
Jonas Jonasson. From his early childhood days, Alan has been fascinated with explosives.
Because of this expertise and knowledge, throughout his adult life, he becomes involved in one escapade after another. He is responsible for perfecting the controlled detonation mechanism of the
Atomic bomb. He meets American presidents, Russian tyrants, Chinese leaders and a host of other
important figures. His life became a series of adventures carried out in all parts of the world. In his
99th year, after his latest escapade, he becomes homeless and goes to live in a nursing home. The
home has planned a big party to celebrate Alan’s 100th birthday, but just minutes before the party
Alan decides to run away. He realizes that life is not over and that he cannot live
under the many rules that the home director, Alice, has imposed on him, particularly the
“no drinking vodka rule.” Clad only in slippers and light clothing he makes his way to the bus depot.
When a young man at the depot asks him to watch his suitcase, Alan decides to steal the suitcase,
thinking it may contain warm clothes and shoes, and he hops on a bus. Little does he know that in
fact the case is full of cash and so begins Alan’s newest adventure. Running from the criminals who
own the money, he meets new friends including an elephant, is involved in somewhat unfortunate
deaths, and meets a “younger” woman. This hilarious book will makes a good read!.
