Candlemas is also referred to as ‘The Purification’ or the ‘Presentation of Christ in the temple’. Candlemas marks the end of the forty days of the Christmas/Epiphany season. We look at the crib for the last time and look towards Lent and Easter. Candlemas is a pivot point in the Christian year. It has a ‘bitter-sweet’ feel. It is a feast day, and the revelation of the child Jesus in the Temple who is greeted by Simeon and Anna. A the same time the prophetic words of Simeon speak of the rising and falling of many and the sword will pierce Mary’s heart. We take one last look back to Christmas, and now turn towards the cross. Reflection for the week: They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, ‘What is this? A new teaching – with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.’ Mark 1:27 Services this week – all welcome Day: Time: Services and location: Mon 11:30 Messy Church – BROMHAM Tue 10:00 Eucharist – Bromham Baptist Church Wed 11:00 Eucharist – Randalls Close – BROMHAM Thur 10:00 10:30 Messy Church – OAKLEY Prayer Group – 18 Brook Way. – BROMHAM nd th Services next Sunday – 2 before Lent – 8 09:00 Parish Eucharist - STAGSDEN February 10:30 LEP Service – OAKLEY METHODIST CHURCH 10:30 Parish Eucharist - BROMHAM 10:30 Bromham Brunch – BROMHAM CE LOWER SCH. 18:00 Benefice Evensong - BROMHAM
