Many, many thanks go out to all the parents, teachers and staff for donating food items and their time for the High School Honor Roll Breakfast.. Many were there at 6 a.m. on a cold and blustery morning to make sure everything was ready. We would like to extend a special thank you Lorinda Gale, for coordinating everything. Congratulations to the Honor Roll students for your academic accomplishments. KPTCC: On Thursday, February 12th, during Parent Teacher Conferences, KPTCC will be hosting a Mexican Buffet supper for the Kiowa Schools’ teachers and staff. If you are able to help by providing an item for their meal, please contact Carrie McElroy at 303-867-8424. Please have your food items at the KPTCC Kitchen/Concessions Stand by 3:30 p.m. so that we can be ready to start serving at 4:00 p.m. Set-up and clean-up help would also be appreciated. BOXTOPS: We are in the final weeks of collecting Box Tops for our end of February due date. Please send your BoxTops and Campbell’s Soup Labels that you collect for KPTCC into your school office ASAP. It does take some work on our part to prepare them for submission. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents and can add up quickly. We earned $580 in Box Tops with our October collection and it is “free” money just for clipping Box Tops! Box Tops are not only found on food items, but also on Kleenex, Ziploc Bags, and other non-perishable items. We are looking for someone to help us with Campbell’s Soup Label preparation. KPTCC Basketball Concessions are up and running and Kiowa is known throughout the Black Forest League for our outstanding concessions. We are always in need of home baked desserts. Only 4 concessions left in our schedule and numerous openings in our schedule. Please contact Betty Hood at 303-243-0755 to make donations arrangements. (Pies are our best sellers) Drop by the concession stand to sign up for a shift. “Dine Around Elbert County” is a week-long, February 8 -14, 2015, opportunity for us to visit participating restaurants that will in turn donate a portion of their proceeds to the Pines &Plains Libraries Foundation, formerly known as the Elbert County Library Foundation. It’s an opportunity to show support for our local restaurants while helping out the library foundation as well. A number of restaurants are participating. In Elizabeth, we have Buzzards Pizza, Charlie’s Hot Dogs (which has extended its hours to 6:30 pm to cater to after-work commuters), Falcon Lounge, Formaggi’s, Spring Valley Golf Club, The Teaspoon (new at The Carriage House), Wing Nuttz, and Grumpy’s (where the original owners Bill and Sandy Barton have returned).
