Film & related




Film is big business in BC
Maple Ridge, Mission & Pitt Meadows enjoy more than our share of the action
2006 Maple Ridge hired full-time Film Production Liaison
Maple Ridge is program-ready for launch of Partners on Screen initiative
Film Production Liaisons meet regularly with each other & with Industry to improve
service / remove red tape / attract, retain & grow our share of available projects
By the numbers:
 We attribute $10,000 per ‘shoot day’ of economic impact to the community
 Maple Ridge 2014 YTD 339 shoot days.. Or $3.4 Million dollars in economic impact
 Scouting, prep and wrap days also have a big economic impact
 Goal is to grow the sector i.e. post production, animation & gaming; education
Note: Ridge Studios announced on 224 in Maple Ridge
*Note: In 2013, 294 productions were filmed or completed post-production in BC. Maple Ridge had a total of 222 ‘shoot days’ that year .
The North Fraser economic partners are working
together to attract investment that will help ensure
a sustainable, vibrant economy in our region.
We very much appreciate the generous support of
the Province which is helping focus our efforts &
build connections across ministries and in key
sectors.
