College Gear! – Wear your college gear this Friday, February 6th……. It is College Wear Day sponsored by
the AVID program.. Treats will be distributed during FIRE and lunch to those caught wearing College Gear.
Ren List - The Renaissance list for semester 1 is posted in D108. Please check if there are errors.
Boys Tennis - Anyone interested in FTHS Boys Tennis should attend the meeting on Wednesday, February
4th during lunch in room I-107 (Ferris).
FCA – Will meet in the Black Box at lunch TODAY. Come in for some pizza.
SADD – There will be a SADD meeting TODAY during lunch in Mr. Duston’s room.
Sand Volleyball – Any girls interested in playing Sand Volleyball for FTHS this Spring, please come to a
meeting with Coach Chip on Wednesday, 2/4, at lunch in Mr. Unchangco’s room I-107.
Track and Field – We want you to join the track and field team. Practice is going on right now and the first
meet is less than one month away. A variety of events for the experienced and the novice athlete. Come out
today and learn from our excellent track and field staff. We meet daily at 2:15pm in G107. Sign up with Mr.
Reeves, Mr. Duston, Mr. Dinkler or Mr. Watson.
Kiwins’ – Meeting TODAY in Mr. Miller’s room I-105.
ISPE - All ISPE contracts are due by 2-6 if you want to be enrolled for this semester. Also, if you have not
used your log by 2-6, you are subject to removal from the class.
VUSD Multilingual Seal and State Seal of Biliteracy - Applications are now available. If you’re currently
taking Spanish 4AP, you should pick up an application from Sr. Sánchez during FIRE/Lunch. If you have
already taken Spanish 4AP and/or have taken the AP test and passed with a 3 or better, you should get an
application from your counselor. Applications are due no later than MARCH 20, 2015. All completed
applications should be turned in to Sr. Sánchez in room H-108. Remember, applications are ONLY available to
Seniors.
Attention Buena and Ventura – Athletes and Musicians Winter program photos are this Friday, February
6th during FIRE and 7th period in D-104 (Mrs. Car’s room). Fall make-up photos will be offered as well during
these same times.
Ms. Pelfrey - Is looking for tutors and mentors for Thursday Extended Hours in the Media Center. Get
community service hours, help your fellow humans, and assist with Media Center tasks. Applications are
available from Mrs. Kapala in the Media Center and from Ms. Pelfrey in room G105.
Media Center - Extended hours in the Media Center start this Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00. Need help with a
project? A place to study? Find a book? Use a computer? Come on by!
Interested in joining Bioscience Academy - Come to the Bioscience Information Presentation TODAY
Tuesday, February 3rd OR Thursday, February 5th during lunch in D106. You must attend one of these
meetings to apply to FTHS Bioscience. If you are sick these days, please see Mrs. Duffy immediately to
arrange a make-up appointment. Applications due Feb. 12th!
Foothill- Will be selling Valentine Grams again this year to benefit ASB and Athletics. Please complete this
order form: http://foothilltechnology.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Valentines-Order-Form-2015.pdf and
return to the student store by February 6th. Your student will receive their Valentine Gram on February 13th.
Semester 2 BHS & VHS Athletes – You must have your ID card punched to board the bus to your
boundary school. Ms. Nordin will be in front of school this week right after period 5/6 to punch your IDs or you
can come by her office.
Students - Are reminded that IDs are required to check out books and computers in the Media Center. Please
remember to bring these to school.
FTHS Boys Volleyball – Tryouts begin Wed., Feb. 11, 6-8 pm at Cabrillo Middle School for athletes not
currently in a winter sport. All athletes must have submitted a completed clearance packet to the office before
trying out!
Festival of Talent - Join us for an exciting evening on February 28th which begins at 5:00 p.m. at Ventura
High School with pre-show activities. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Student Store until
NOON February 27th. Advance tickets are $10 each and will be sold for $15 at the door. Reserved seating
tickets are available on-line for $20 each at http://vep4vusd.org/Festival of Talent.html.
Starry Starry Night - will be held on March 7th at the Pierpont Inn. This is Foothill's biggest fundraiser of the
year, so please encourage your parents to attend. In conjunction with this year’s event there will also be an
online auction so look for more info to come on the cool stuff for students and parents alike that will be offered.
All proceeds from this wonderful "Vintage Ventura" themed event go to support PFSO and Renaissance.

Parents - Please Check With Your Students - As they were assigned a "theme" in their period 4 class
for SSN basket contributions, and we need your help to be sure student donations are brought in by February
20th! Checks and monetary contributions to PFSO are also appreciated, as well as large empty baskets you
may have!
MEDIA CENTER/COMMUNITY SERVICE
SPAN - (Spay/neuter animal network) thrift store is seeking Juniors or Seniors to volunteer. Must commit to
at least 2 hours a week. Come into their store at 110 N. Olive, St., Ventura (Tues-Sat) and fill out an
application. This store is behind the Von’s store on Main Street.
Project Understanding Needs Tutors at Lincoln-This site is now open from 3:00 to 5:00, Monday

Seward Beach Clean -When: Sat Feb 7, 2015 10am-noon Where: Seaward Beach, Ventura
Living on the coast means loving the sea! Sierra Club has 'adopted' the beach at the end of Seaward in
Ventura and promises to help clean it up every few months. Great way to get high school community service
hours, and we invite all locals to come and show the love! No dogs please. High school teens ages 15 to
18 can come without parent/guardian but must bring the signed waiver on the Ventura Sierra Club FB page
