Staff and Students—Starting Thursday, February 5th, the Media Center will be offering extended hours on
Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tutors will be available. Stay tuned for more information!
Semester 2 BHS & VHS Athletes – You must have your ID card punched to board the bus to your
boundary school. Ms. Nordin will be in front of school this week right after period 5/6 to punch your IDs, or you
can come by her office.
Beauty is a Beast – You may have heard of Beauty and the Beast, but you haven’t seen Beauty is a
Beast!! Come watch the mean, but beautiful princess learn how to be beautiful on the inside. Friday at 7:00,
Spirito Hall $7.00 adults $5.00 students. Doors open at 6:30.
FTHS Swim Team – Any students interested in Foothill’s Swim Team, come to the Swim meeting on
Thursday, 1/29 at lunch in the J bldg. Black Box to meet with Coach Jason York. Tryouts begin Feb. 4!
FTHS Boys Volleyball – Tryouts begin Wed., Feb. 11, 6-8 pm at Cabrillo Middle School for athletes not
currently in a winter sport. All athletes must have submitted a completed clearance packet to the office before
trying out!
NHS – NHS hours are due this Friday, January 30th; both new and returning members. There will also be a
meeting on January 30th for all members in Mr. Perfect’s room H-107. Club Photos will be taken!
ASB - Are you interested in being part of ASB for the 2015 – 2016 school year? Come to a MANDATORY
meeting in D108 during lunch on January 30th to receive the necessary information.
Teen Voice – Teen voice is collecting creamy peanut butter, canned dog food, and fleece blankets for
rescued animals. Please bring donations to E-108 by January 30th.
Starry Starry Night - will be held on March 7th at the Pierpont Inn. This is Foothill's biggest fundraiser of the
year, so please encourage your parents to attend. In conjunction with this year’s event there will also be an
online auction so look for more info to come on the cool stuff for students and parents alike that will be offered.
All proceeds from this wonderful "Vintage Ventura" themed event go to support PFSO and Renaissance.

SPAN - (Spay/neuter animal network) thrift store is seeking Juniors or Seniors to volunteer. Must commit to
at least 2 hours a week. Come into their store at 110 N. Oliver St., Ventura (Tues-Sat) and fill out an
application. This store is behind the Von’s store on Main Street.
Project Understanding Needs Tutors at Lincoln-This site is now open from 3:00 to 5:00, Monday

Romancing The Plants and Habitat ~ Restoration Work - When: Sun Feb. 1, 2015 9am –
noon Where: Hedrick Ranch Nature Area (HRNA), Santa Paula Sierra Club will be seeking local volunteers
for the next several years to help plant native vegetation, remove invasive species, and advocate for the Santa
Clara River Parkway. Tasks will include collect cuttings from trees and plants, collect seeds, help in the plant
nursery, or remove arundo. Long pants and closed shoes required. Ages 15-18 unaccompanied by
parent/guardian MUST bring signed waiver available from the leader or print from Ventura Sierra Club

Give yourself a little extra travel time, it is hard to find Hwy 126 E to Santa Paula, exit 10th St. and turn left (go
under freeway), turn right on Harvard, turn right on 12th St. (cross Santa Clara River bridge), go 3.7 mi to

Seward Beach Clean -When: Sat Feb 7, 2015 10am-noon Where: Seaward Beach, Ventura
Living on the coast means loving the sea! Sierra Club has 'adopted' the beach at the end of Seaward in
Ventura and promises to help clean it up every few months. Great way to get high school community service
hours, and we invite all locals to come and show the love! No dogs please. High school teens ages 15 to
18 can come without parent/guardian but must bring the signed waiver on the Ventura Sierra Club FB page

Agriculture Career Fair - January 29, 2015 4 pm – 7 pm. Meet community members, business people and
other movers and shakers in Ventura County agriculture in this free event. Careers and internships in
Agribusiness Management, Agricultural and Natural Resources, Communications, Building Construction
Management, Agro science, Tourism, Packaging, Horticulture, Forestry, Food Science and more. To register

Lake Casitas - Is now hiring lifeguards for Summer 2015. Application forms are available at this
site, www.lakecasitas.info. Pre-course Swim Tests begin in February. However, YOU MUST have an
application on file by January 30th. Applications are available in the Media Center or online at
www.lakecasitas.info.
Gear Grab Buy and Sell - Saturday Jan. 31, 9am - 2pm GEAR GRAB BUY & SELL. This is a Sierra Club
fundraiser and they could use a few FTHS volunteers to help set up/take down and load equipment during the
event. PLEASE CONTACT THE LEADER BY JAN 18 IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER. Location: WAV
Building Courtyard, 175 S. Ventura Avenue, Ventura (parking across the street in the dirt lot). Outdoor sports
equipment buy and sell, especially camping, hiking, backpacking, water sports, bicycling, winter sports,
clothing and footwear. Rain or Shine. Sellers invited to bring good condition used equipment 9am-10am (must
be tagged with seller name/ email/ phone/ price, no stick on tags please). Sellers will receive 70% of sold item
price and donate 30% to Ventura Sierra Club. Great event for groups to use as their own fundraiser. Leader:
