35. District/Authority Awards
CRITERIA

Available for graduates who excel in ONE of the following
curricular areas: Second Languages (including Aboriginal
Languages) OR Fine Arts (visual arts, dance, drama, music),
OR Applied Skills (business, tech education, home
economics), OR Physical Activity (not limited to PE), OR
District Technical and Trades Training (ACE-IT program) OR
Community Service.
For curricular area awards: must have at least two courses:
one at the grade 11 and one at the grade 12 level.
Must include a reference letter from a PMS teacher in the
area you excel in to support your application for this
scholarship. For Technical/Trades Award, from your ACE-IT
teacher. For Physical Activity, non-PE: from your PMS coach.
For Community Service award: must demonstrate significant
volunteer activity in the school (SD43) community; include
reference letter from school community referee

Graduates intend to pursue creative post-secondary
education to prepare for a career in the visual or
performing arts
Application for the scholarship will be in the form of a 34 minute film on the theme, ‘PASSION AND THE
MANIFESTATION OF DREAMS’
The film’s theme can be presented using, but not limited
to, the following disciplines: Drama, animation, acting,
documentary, dance, comedy, music, opera, magic,
theatre, storytelling, spoken word, slam poetry.
The film will be evaluated on direction, cinematography,
storytelling, production value and most of all, how
effectively the film delivered the message.
A 500 - 750 word essay must also be submitted to
explain how the idea for the film was born and created,
and how the applicant intends to manifest their own
dreams.
