AP Exam Fees
Any students planning to write an AP Exam in May must pay their exam
fees online or at the office by Jan 30th. Each exam costs
$120.

Writing Club: Any students interested in starting a writing club,
please attend a meeting at lunch this Friday in room 101. If you cannot
make the meeting, but are interested in writing, please see Ms.

WORDS contest submissions are due by February 12th. Submissions
written in English and French are being accepted. You can write a

poem or a prose piece (max. 500 words). Your work should be carefully
proofread and edited. You can submit multiple entries but must
include a separate cover sheet for each piece you are submitting. If you have any questions, please see Ms.
Stanisic, your English teacher, or your French teacher. More details and cover sheets are posted on the bulletin
board outside of the English department wing on the first floor.

Yearbook Club: Yearbook is starting up a new club Wednesday’s at lunch. Come to Rm. 320 this Wednesday to
join! If you enjoy loads of fun activities, yearbook is the club for you. You get to learn how to use cameras and
navigate around Photoshop. Yearbook club is a hands on club where you get to have good experience with other
students and become more involved with your school’s everyday activities. Anyone is welcome to join. No
experience is needed. Yearbook is just a club to have fun completing this year’s 2014-15 Yearbook!

Dance Extravaganza: Hey Alpha, Dance Extravaganza is happening Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00 pm in the
Drama Studio. Tickets are just $5 and are sold in the foyer at lunch and at the door or online. Seating is limited
and tickets are going fast.

Attention Grade 12s! Do you need more hours to complete your work experience? There are many volunteer
placements that are available right now to choose from and can get you started in completing your mandatory
hours. Here are some ideas:
Grade 11s, and 12s! Looking for community service hours?
Winterruption 2015: A uniquely Vancouver winter festival on Granville Island requires volunteers in many
different areas from Feb. 19th -22nd 2015. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in hospitality,
tourism, performing arts, entertainment, event management or those who are simply looking to fulfill general
volunteer requirements. Come to the Career Centre for more information.
The 23rd annual Wellness Fair: Please some to the Career Center to sign up for voluntary opportunities to the
Wellness Fair. There are a variety of positions and times.
Kiu Do Chinese School: Heritage Language Chinese school is looking for volunteers to help in many different
projects. This opportunity runs every Saturday with two different shifts here at Alpha. Come to the Career
Centre for more information.
Artspace Children’s Arts Center: Are you a mature and reliable youth looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to
gain valuable work experience? If you are a student you is interested in working with kids and teach about visual
and performing arts come to the Career Center.
BCIT Broadcast Work Experience Opportunity (Grade 11 and 12)! Any grade 11 or 12 students interested in

"Back by Popular demand" Open to all students from grades 8-12. Floor Hockey Intramural Sign-up sheets are
now available from the Athletic Board. Get your friends together and make a team to participate.
Don't have a team, but want to participate, no worries; come see Mr. Chandi @ the PE office and he will place you
on a team. All Sign-up sheets need to be submitted along will Team performance bonds to Mr. Chandi @ the PE
