Madhav Institute of Technology and
Science (MITS), Gwalior (M.P.)
(An Autonomous Government Aided institute)
About the Institute
Madhav Institute of Technology and Science was
established in 1957 by His Highness Late Sir Jiwaji
Rao Scindia, Maharaja, of the erstwhile state of
Gwalior. The foundation stone of the Institute was
laid by Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, on 20th October,
1956 and the building was inaugurated by Late Dr.
S. Radhakrishnan on 11th December, 1964.The
president of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil
graced the golden Jubilee Celebration of the institute
as Chief Guest on 30th June, 2008.
The institute has a campus of around 45 acres area.
The institute offers education in nine undergraduate
programmes and fifteen PG programmes. The prime
objective of the Institute is to provide quality
technical education at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels. Recently the institute is also
funded by World Bank under TEQIP phase II to
strengthen the quality of technical education.
About the Department
The Department of Chemical Engineering is
established in 1995 with undergraduate program.
The department has also started PG programme in
chemical engineering, since 2013. The course
faculty is actively engaged in research and has
published numerous papers in National and
International journals. The alumni of the
department have secured their places in the higher
echelons of the society and technical world.
.
Objective of the Workshop
In present scenario of depleting energy sources,
world is looking forward for natural and renewable
resources. Solar energy is most abundantly available
sources of energy. A lot has been done to device the
ways to harness solar energy. Silicon based solar
photovoltaic systems are most popular technology at
present. Recently, it has been shown that the
inorganic components can be replaced by
semiconducting polymers capable of achieving
reasonably high power conversion efficiencies. A lot
of researches are being done on development of such
solar cells that are more cost effective and
technically efficient. This seminar is aimed to
discuss new technologies, paying particular attention
to device design and potential improvements.
On completion of this seminar, the participant will
be able understand with recent developments in the
solar energy particularly in the many aspects.
