The theme is: God rich in mercy (Ephesians 2:4). During these days The Holy Father asks parishes to provide an extraordinary opening of churches, offering the possibility for Confessions and Eucharistic Adoration. Here in the parish, we shall be having adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 10.00am on Friday 13th to 10.00am on Saturday 14th March 2015. We kindly invite individuals and parish groups to take advantage of this wonderful moment to be with the Lord as the church will be opened all day and night during the period of the 24 hours. We shall be having a rota for the various parish groups. However, we are appealing to parish to please write their names against the times they will be available for the adoration in the church during the period. The Parish Priest will be available during the period for confessions. REFLECTION In the First Reading, Job complains of hard labour, sleepless nights, illness, and the shortness of his hopeless life. For him, all of life is a fever. The Psalm is a hymn of praise to God, who brings back exiles, heals the broken-hearted, and raise the lowly. We see in the Second Reading the calling of St Paul to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, even if he doesn’t get paid for doing it. His reward is simply to win converts. Although a Jew, he is prepared to live as a gentile among the gentiles in order to convert people to Christ. In today’s Gospel Jesus heals Simon Peter’s mother-in-law of the fever and proclaims the kingdom of God by teaching, preaching, and healing various people of various conditions. We noticed that after her healing Simon’s mother-in-law “began to wait on them”. She is portrayed by Mark as a good example of a disciple, showing the discipleship of service. The Holy Father invites us to pray today especially for victims of trafficking and those who work to combat it. TEA AND COFFEE All are welcome to join us in the parish room after the weekend masses for tea and coffee so that we can socialise with one another. Page 2 of 2
