My Dear Friends,
The Jewish understanding of authority was that all
spiritual authority was passed on from Rabbi to Rabbi
through all the centuries. Jesus’ authority is directly
from God, for his is the Son of God, the Messiah.
It is important to note that Jesus’ speech is more
powerful than the demonic power. His words effect
what he says. Just as in our sacraments, the words of
Jesus, used by the priest, has the same effect, as the
Bread and Wine are changed into the Body and Blood
of Christ. The demonic recognize that Jesus is God, as
ask “What do want of us” or translated “Who are you
to us?” a good question for each of us today,” Who is
God to us?” One answer could be He is compassion,
forgiveness, and mercy!
Our thanks to all who made our celebration of
Catholic School Week a success and the celebration
of long history of achievements and may our School
continue to serve our Bristol Community for the next
125 years!
We are approaching the holy Season of Lent, Ash
Wednesday just a couple of weeks away, and time to
bring our old Blessed Palm to be used for Ashes. This
Sunday also we will be blessing throats for the feast
of St. Blaisé.
Looking forward to our parish celebration of St.
Valentine, with dancing, drinks, food and good
company on February 14th, in our School Hall – hope
to see you there for a good time!!
Thank you for all your support and prayers for our
Parish!

Are you a Mandated Reporter?
As part of our Catholic commitment to safe
environments, the Archdiocese recently updated its
policies and training curriculum for mandated reporters
of child abuse and neglect. These new policies reflect
the Church’s commitment to always do more, as well as
new Pennsylvania laws that go into effect on December
31, 2014. If you have direct contact with children, you
may be a mandated reporter. Sue Duffy, our safe
environment coordinator, will be working with our
parish in the coming weeks to educate mandated
reporters about their responsibilities and how to
properly report child abuse to Child Line, PA’s 24-hour
child abuse reporting hotline. In the meantime, she can
be reached at 215.788.7266 with any questions.
