THE AREA DIRECTIONS - Ivy Bush Royal Hotel

THE AREA
Carmarthen is reputed to be the birth place of the legendary wizard Merlin and
has the distinction of being Wales’ oldest town. It stands on a bluff above the
River Towy which runs from the Black Mountains down into Carmarthen Bay.
Nearby the National Botanical Gardens of Wales and the historic Aberglasney
Gardens are well worth a visit as well as the many majestic mediaeval castles
which dominate the landscape of West Wales.
The town itself has a large leisure centre and the area offers a choice of golf
courses, river and lake fishing, walking and rambling and areas of outstanding
beauty.
