Report to Admissions Forum ‐ 06/02/2015 ITEM 11 PLACEMENTS UNDER THE FAIR ACCESS PROTOCOL ‐ ADMISSIONS & TRANSPORT REFERRALS 2014/2015 Both secondary and primary panels continue to work well. Secondary: To date there have been 70 pupils referred under the protocol for 2014/2015 of which 28 have been placed at panel, 32 are currently receiving A2E whilst awaiting placement at future panels. 4 are receiving Alternative Learning via Gypsy Skills, 4 have returned to EHE and 2 have moved away. As in previous years, there was a high level of pupils referred under category 'H' (year 11) for the Autumn term. The majority of whom have been placed at local schools, some with a view to alternative provision packages whilst some students arriving from abroad with little English may be placed in year 10. Generally pupils are on roll within 2 weeks of being placed at panel, any outstanding ones are from recent panels. There have so far been no placements for schools in Elmbridge, Mole Valley and Surrey Heath however there have been recent referrals to A2E in each of these areas. For 2013/2014, there were a total of 93 pupils referred and placed under the secondary protocol. New for 2014‐2015: primary panels are currently being piloted in the Spelthorne, Guildford and Waverley areas. It is anticipated that this will lead to an improved awareness of the Primary Fair Access Protocol and establish a better system for placements. The current process means that placements are not always identified within 2 weeks of an application being received which is highlighted in the column below 'On roll over two weeks'. For the academic year 2013/2014 there were a total of 26 referrals placed via the Primary Fair Access Protocol.
