O come, let us worship God our King
We are delighted to have you join us at our service today in worshiping
the Holy Trinity. Please take a moment after the service to introduce
yourself to our pastor, Fr. Josiah. You are cordially invited to join us for
the Agape Meal after services. We would love to greet you and to answer
any questions you may have about our church. If you are not Orthodox
Christian, please do not approach the chalice during the distribution of
Holy Communion. If you are an Orthodox Christian, please note that
Communion must be prepared for by fasting, reconciliation, and recent
confession.

What does this message from God require from me, His loyal and obedient servant? What must I change in my life to be able to follow this teaching in both word
and in deed? 1 Corinthians 16: 2 …
“And as for what fell among thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on
their way are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit
does not mature.”

Megalynarion for St. Andrew -Tone 8
Today’s hymns and readings are provided below
for your participation in the Divine Liturgy.
Second Antiphon
O Son of God who was carried in the arms of righteous Simeon, save us
who sing to Thee, Alleluia.
Apolytikion of the Resurrection-Tone 1
While the stone was sealed by the Jews and the soldiers were guarding
Thy Most Pure Body, Thou didst arise on the third day, O Savior, granting life to the world, for which cause the heavenly pow'rs cried aloud unto
Thee: O giver of life, glory to Thy resurrection, O Christ, glory to Thy
kingdom, glory to Thy providence, O Thou who alone art the Lover of
Mankind.
Since thou was the first to approach the Lord, thou O Andrew was revealed
as the first-called apostle. Divine visionary of Christ God's resurrection, do
thou now quell the ragings of the passions.
Kontakion of the Presentation of Christ –Tone 1
O Christ God, Thou hast sanctified the virgin's womb by Thy birth, and as
was meet, hast blessed the hands of Simeon. Thou hast also come to us to
save us. Do Thou, when wars prevail, give peace to Thy people, and make
mighty those whom Thou hast loved, for Thou alone art the Lover of
mankind.
Prokeimenon
Make vows to the Lord thy God, and perform them. In Judah God is
known; His Name is great in Israel.
The Reading from the Epistle of
St. Paul to St. Timothy. (3:10-15)
Timothy my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in
life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions,
and my sufferings; and what befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra. What persecutions I endured; yet from them all, the Lord rescued
me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and
have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from
childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are
able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
The Reading from the Holy Gospel According to
St. Luke (18:10-14)
The Lord spoke this parable: “Two men went up into the temple to pray,
one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and
prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank Thee that I am not like other
men, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast
twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing
far off, would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to
his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Apolytikion of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple-Tone 1
Rejoice, thou who art full of grace, O Virgin Theotokos, for from thee
hath risen the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God, enlightening those in
darkness. Rejoice thou also, O righteous Elder, as thou receivest in thine
arms the Redeemer of our souls, Who also granteth unto us the Resurrection.
Serving
It is our pleasure to host the Ss. Cyril and Athanasius Symposium again this
year. The theme is The City, a Desert – Living the Life of the Desert in the
Midst of the World.
This great event presents several opportunities for St. Andrew Parishioners:
 Enroll and attend: You will love it! See flyer in bulletin to find out how
to register
 Donate to support meals: We hold the symposium to provide an opportunity for spiritual edification to our parish and surrounding community,
but also as a way to support the institute. We will be serving three meals
on Saturday, February 7, as well as sharing our Sunday Agape Hour after
Divine Liturgy with the attendees, February 8. We try to donate and provide all meals so that the entire registration proceeds can go to the institute and support higher learning in Orthodoxy.
 Cash to buy plates, napkins and plastic ware, food items.
 Cookies and Brownies: We need cookies, cupcakes or brownies
for lunch and coffee breaks.
 Volunteer to help serve: Helpers are needed for preparing and serving
meals, operating the bookstore, managing the registration table, and assisting with facility setup.
Contact Coordinators to let the coordinators know if you can donate and/or
serve:

God gives His communion to all who love Him. Communion with God is
life and light and sweetness with all the good things that He has. But those
who of their own will forsake him he rewards with separation from Him,
which they themselves have chosen. As separation from light is darkness,
so also alienation from God is deprivation of all good things which He has.
But the good things of God are eternal and without end, so that the loss of
them is eternal and without end. Thus sinners shall be the cause of their
own torments, just as the blind do not see the light, although it is shining on them.
St. Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies, V.27
2015 parish calendars are here, free to pledged members. Non-pledged
members may have one for $5. See Martha in Fellowship Hall after liturgy
to get your calendar. Martha apologies for not being able to hand out the
calendars as she went home ill after liturgy last Sunday. Please forgive.
If a man does not tell everything to his spiritual father, then his path is
crooked and does not lead to the Kingdom of Heaven. But the path of one
who tells everything leads directly to the Kingdom of Heaven.
St. Silouan the Athonite, Writings, XIII.9
