ELEANOR’S JOKE OF THE WEEK
The woman pulled her car over to the side of the road when she heard the police car’s siren.
“How long have you been driving without a taillight?” demanded the officer. “Oh, no!” screamed
the woman. She jumped out and ran to the back of the car. “Just calm down, ” said the officer.
“It isn’t that serious”. “But wait ‘til my husband finds out!” “Where is he?” “He’s in the trailer
that was hitched to the car!”
AMONG FRIENDS
Sometimes our faith can be looked on as simply help for us with life’s problems
or consolations in our disappointments. But the 2 great Commandments by
Christ are to love God and love our neighbor. Our neighborhood parishes had the
ground move under them. The folks from Notre Dame and St Margaret Mary are
feeling the effects of the mergers. Notre Dame still has one Saturday night Mass
which will be no more after June and one Sunday Mass which will continue. All
the activities at those churches are curtailed.
You might know some folks who have stopped attending Mass. If they are older
and need a ride, why not help out and bring them here? If they are angry,
listening to them and eventually suggesting to them to give St Rose a try might
help them. No matter what we need to pray for them.

JUST A THOUGHT from Sister Katie…..
Today, in the words of St. Mark, we hear:
spirits and they obey him.”
“He commands even the unclean
In our readings from last week Jesus announced the Kingdom of God is at hand.
This week, in mighty words and deeds, He truly shows us that He is God. The
events in our readings take place on the Sabbath. Jesus did this so we could
know that the Sabbath was to be an everlasting sign, both of God’s covenant
love for all creation and His deliverance of His covenant people, Israel from
slavery. On this Sabbath, Jesus signals a new creation – that the Holy One has
come to purify His people and deliver the world from evil.
Today is not that much different from centuries ago when the demon roamed
the world. Satan is present today in the evil around us and it is only by the
grace of God that we can overcome that evil. In order to do just that; first, we
must acknowledge that evil is present so we can bring God into our lives to
counteract sin and evil and feel His presence and His peace within us.
A simple suggestion may be to try each day as you awaken, to thank God for the
night passed and ask His help in all that the day ahead holds for you and those
you love. Bring God into your “now”. Ask His protection and grace to overcome
any and all evil you may meet on your journey that day. Then at night, spend
time thanking God for that day and pray asking Him to give you a night of rest,
of peace, knowing that He is with you at all times and in all situations. All we
have to do is “ask His Help and He responds.”
If possible spend some time each week reading the Word of God in scripture,
your Bible. Then, when you come to Church focus on Jesus present in Word and
Sacrament. As you approach the altar for Eucharist, really approach knowing
WHO you are about to receive and then let Jesus make a difference in your life.
In the words of the Psalm for today, heed and listen, “If today you hear His
voice, harden not your hearts”.
God bless you and yours.

SUGGESTIONS BY FR CANAVAN
Probably there are over 900 people who during the last years have left the
Catholic Church. Prayer is powerful and I am asking you to pray daily that those
who have left the church will return and if it is God’s will, that He will let St Rose
be their choice.
