Aquia Creek Corvette Club (ACCC) was formed in September 1987 by a group of die-hard
Corvette enthusiasts from Aquia Harbor in Stafford, VA. The name was selected reflecting
the Club's geographic and historical origins in Old Dominion. Through hard work and commitment, ACCC has enjoyed constant growth and now boasts 73 members representing
nearly 80 Corvettes, from a 1953 to 2015. ACCC membership consists primarily of Stafford County residents, but has members from Prince William, Fairfax, Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Orange, Culpeper, Loudon, Louisa counties, and one member in California. Since
September 8th, 2014, the ACCC Facebook Group has been limited to ACCC members only, except for a few that were already group members.

1973 Corvette: The depar tur e of chr ome fr ont bumper s
allowed engineers to install body-color front end systems that
met federal 5mph impact requirements for damage to headlights and safety equipment. However, the new package did
add 35 pounds of weight.
Additionally, the front hood was extended rearward over the
windshield wipers, eliminating the vacuum-operated lift panels
that were used between 1968 and '72 to conceal wiper mechanisms. Metal side impact beams were incorporated into the
inside of doors, again per federal mandate.
A new coolant recovery system provided a reservoir to hold
high-temperature coolant overflow and returned it to the radiator once it cooled. New chassis mounts and rubber inserts inside metal sleeves isolated road chatter; a sound-absorbing pad
was added to the hood's interior surface, and sound-absorbing
material was sprayed on several inner panels to deaden sound.
Since the rear windows were no longer removable, luggage
space increased two inches because of the removal of the window's storage shelf. And for the first time, radial tires were
used.
Sales again climbed to over 30,000 units and, by 1973, five
times more coupes than convertibles were manufactured.

KELLY’S ST. PATRICK’S PARADE
NAGS HEAD, NORTH CAROLINA
March 13-15, 2015
A block of 10 rooms (7 double & 3 queen) has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in Kitty Hawk for
the nights of March 13, 14, & 15th. The facility is now entirely non-smoking and a substantial fee will be
charged for smoking in the rooms. If you prefer a 1st or 2nd floor room (there is an elevator), you can
make that request when reserving your room and they will try to accommodate you depending on availability.
The rate is $79.99 + tax (total @ $90.00) per night & includes an extensive daily continental breakfast. They
will also provide water and hoses if we need to clean the cars. Check in is 4pm & check out is 11am, but
they are flexible, so if you arrive around 1 or 2pm and your room is ready you will have access to it. Any
changes to, or cancellation of your reservation, must be done by 6pm of your arrival date. Those needing a
room must call the hotel directly at 1-800-836-2753 or 1-252-261-4888. Tell them you are with the Aquia
Creek Corvette Club or ACCC, and make a reservation for the days you will be staying (you do not need to
stay all three nights) and any other specific room requests. Any rooms not reserved by Feb. 28 will be returned to the hotel. PLEASE let Mary Anne McGovern know by e-mail or phone that you have made a reservation ( [email protected] or 540-825-5542). It will help when she is talking to the hotel staff.
The parade is Sunday at 1pm RAIN or SHINE. It is a candy dispensing event so stock up now! Other activities sponsored by Kelly’s that may interest you are listed at WWW.KELLYSRESTAURANT.com. The First
Flight Cruisers Car Club at WWW.FIRSTFLIGHTCRUISERS.COM also invites us to participate in their
