“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15: 57 Dear Applicant, February 1, 2015 Power Camp will be here soon and we are beginning the application process for Huddle Leaders and Junior Huddle Leaders. This year’s Power Camp will be June 22nd – 26th, 2015, at Fredericksburg Christian High School. We are looking for middle school, high school, and college students (ages 14+) to serve as leaders for the 8-12 year old campers (13 year olds can apply if they plan to attend FCA Leadership Camp in North East, MD (May 29th to 31st, 2015). Please prayerfully consider this Call to serve at Power Camp. We are looking for students who demonstrate that they want to be leaders by: 1. Filling out your own application: Applications that are filled out by parents will not be considered. 2. Corresponding with FCA: If you are filling out an application and have a question, we want to hear from you. Contact from parents of campers is appropriate, but for leaders, we want you to show initiative and leadership by contacting me directly. You may email Greg Brock (Huddle Leader Coordinator Coach) @ [email protected] - (540) 538-7144. You will need to stay in contact with Greg Brock during the application process by email. Almost every year we have more applicants than positions available, so special consideration will be given to applicants who are: 1. 2. 3. 4. Involved with the FCA ministry throughout the school year, including your campus huddle (if one is available), attended or attending FCA Leadership Camp in North East, MD and attending/volunteering at area-wide FCA events during the school year. Member of a high / middle school or travel sport’s team. Available to attend the training scheduled for Thursday, June 18 (plan to be there the whole day/evening). All huddle leaders and junior huddle leaders are required to attend this training/teambuilding session. More details will be given upon selection. Servants: Being a huddle leader will likely involve having a lot of fun, but the primary reason to apply and the #1 attribute that the FCA staff is looking for is a servant’s heart. Campers get to focus on having fun, leaders must focus on serving. 2 Corinthians 4:5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. Serving at Power Camp is a volunteer position, but there are many benefits to you being there for the week: - Your week of serving, growing, stretching, and fun counts toward your community service hours for school (about 55 hours). - Every leader receives a $50 scholarship to go to FCA Leadership Mini-Camp, North East, MD (May 29 - 31). - Great time of fellowship and building lasting Christian friendships with other leaders your age! - The opportunity to be used by The Holy Spirit to pour into young athletes (they say their favorite part about camp was their huddle leader!) After praying about this, mail your application to the FCA office by Sunday, March 1, 2015 (10835 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). Positions are limited. Your application will be reviewed and personal interviews will be scheduled for all applicants the week of March 23rd. We will prayerfully make placements after reviewing all applications. You will be notified by email on May 3, 2015. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Deity-John 1:1) (Atonement-Hebrews 9:15-22) (Virgin Birth-Matthew 1:18, 25) (Bodily Resurrection-1 Corinthians 1:1-8) (Sinless Life-Hebrews 4:15) (Personal Return-Hebrews 9:27-28) We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men and women regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. I understand that as a leader in FCA my life is an example to others. FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible is clear in teaching on sexual sin including sex outside of marriage and homosexual acts. Neither heterosexual sex outside of marriage nor any homosexual act constitutes an alternative lifestyle acceptable to God. While upholding God’s standard of holiness, FCA strongly affirms God’s love and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. FCA’s desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle. 1. Will you conform to the FCA’s Sexual Purity Policy? ____ Yes ____ No 2. Have you, or will you at this time commit to living a drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-free life? ____ Yes ____ No As a Huddle Leader, I will be accountable to God & the FCA staff. I understand that if I am found being involved in a lifestyle that does not conform to the FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement, or break my commitment to living a drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-free life, that it means that I will need to step down from my leadership position with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This does not mean that I am a bad person and that the FCA does not love me and want me involved; this is in order to protect the integrity of the ministry and to protect the ones to which we are ministering.
