Note that there are two free four (4) hour training sessions that are being presented Friday evening and are open to anyone. Also, please mark your registration if you plan to attend one of the free training sessions so a student count can be obtained. Class rosters will be filled as the Registrations are received through Eventzilla. Registrations need to be submitted with payment or an agency purchase order (PO) by April 3rd to be placed on the class roster. We look forward to seeing you this year’s academy. COURSE TITLE Engine Company Operations See Appendix “A” for course prerequisites. The program offers firefighters an opportunity to either sharpen their current skills, or learn new and efficient skills for the important task of getting water on the fire. This program is an intensive “hands on” program, designed to expand the firefighters experience in Engine Company Operations in a live fire setting. ADVISORY: This training involves live fire and should only be attempted by students in good physical condition. Beards and/or facial hair (except mustaches) will not be allowed in live burns. See Appendix “A” for course prerequisites. Max class: 24 students PREREQUISITES AND/OR REQUIRED EQUIPMENT Prerequisite: See appendix “A” for requirements. Proof of Workers Comp coverage or waiver. Sun These modules will cover areas of hose, ladders, self-contained breathing apparatus, and personal protective equipment. The material covered in this program will assist the firefighter working Essentials of Fire toward their FFI practicals in the areas of hoses, breathing Fighting apparatus, ladders, and personal protective equipment. An excellent “hands on” program that will be conducted in a limited “live burn” atmosphere. It will refresh firefighters on the basics if not participating in the certification program. Sun This Idaho State class is designed meet NFPA 1670 Awareness and Operations level. It is structured with firefighter safety in mind. In this class students will be exposed to new vehicle construction and design. They will gain an Extrication understanding of vehicle Safety Restraint Systems and Operations Level alternative fuel technology. We will discuss tool safety and usage. Students will learn to read the vehicle to determine mechanism of injury. The focus in this NEW class will be initial company operations with low to moderate staffing and is almost all hands-on. We know that staffing plays a role in the Short Handed Fire tactics we deploy. This class takes an in depth look at search Tactics techniques and how to strategically search with short staffing.
