The architect, Evan Shaw, will be available on Sunday, February 15 to discuss these conceptual ideas from 10:00 am. to 12:30 p.m. At 11:00 a.m., Mr. Shaw will present a slide show during the forum, including a fly-over of the potential structure. People can ask questions of the architect that day, or place a comment in the comment box near the display all month. The Playscape Committee wants your feedback. These comments will be used by the committee to guide future playground planning. Please visit the display and let us know what you think. Member Needed for Financial Oversight Committee The Financial Oversight Committee is seeking a new member from the Congregation. The Committee is composed of three members from the Board of Trustees and three members of the Congregation. The Committee meets 4 times a year with meetings lasting between 1.5 and 2 hours. Among the qualifications are financial literacy and expertise, a commitment to safeguard the organization and its assets, the courage to ask probing questions and to follow up for answers. The primary responsibility of the Committee is to assist the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with respect to the system of internal controls and the financial reports that the Church has established, plus outside audits, when deemed appropriate, of the church’s books and records. Conference on Income Inequality in Evanston, IL UUs for a Just Economic Community is hosting a conference at the Unitarian Church of Evanston from Friday, Feb. 20—Sunday, Feb. 22 on the new UUA Income Inequality Congregational Study Action Issue. The conference is called “Escalating Inequality or Opportunity for all?”. It will give us all the opportunity to learn from experts and from each other how to implement the work of social justice within our congregations. We’ve received a grant from the UU Funding Program to help subsidize scholarships for those of low and fixed income.
