We are however still looking to decrease our expenses for next year, and would welcome any ideas and thoughts you might have as it relates to this. Come ready to play in the snow! ____________________________________________ BAND: Three of our students had an outstanding weekend making music in Petoskey for our high school honors band, featuring students from all over Northern Michigan. Congratulations, Rachel Anderson, Carrie McClure and Garrett Keith! What an honor! Members of the high school band had successful performances at district solo and ensemble festival in Kingsley on Saturday, January 17 . All students that participated received first or second division ratings. We are so proud of Kyra Winowiecki, Mikayla Konopka, Samara Slocombe, Veronica Anderson, Maddy Porter, Patricia Nuno, Rachel Anderson, Will Faught, Tanna Windham, Ladida Cuellar, Amelia Hall, Garrett Keith and Emma Grant! You represented the Suttons Bay band program very well! Keep up the excellent work! th The middle school and high school bands are hard at work preparing for band festival, which occurs at the end of February. Victor Piglowski has been nominated to be Student of the Month. Victor is a junior and is held in high regard by his teachers and peers. Victor is known as the “go-to” person if you really want something done. Victor is also involved in many activities such as football, baseball, class President and Business Professionals of America where he is the Vice President. He is also a mentor for elementary students. Victor excels in academics as he is a part of National Honor Society, on the honor roll and an Academic Achiever. As a junior he is taking both AP English and AP Calculus. His drive to succeed and patience are his strengths. We are so proud to have students like Victor at our school. Otto Mork is our November student of the Month. He is a hardworking student. Otto is respectful to both teachers and his peers. He pays attention well and tries in all classes – even exploratory. Otto was a member of the Middle School football team. Sophia Anderson is our November Student of the Month. Sophia is a 5th grade student in Ms. Smith’s class. Sophia is a hard worker. She has made great strides in her academic progress. Sophia loves math. She is a great math student. Sophia has a good work ethic. She is helpful to others. She is a good friend. She is there for others when they need an ear. She displays good behavior, and makes conscientious choices. Please notice! December Students of the Month: SPECIAL Thanks to the Bonek Agency for their support of SBPS Students of the Month Cameron McCool has been nominated to be Suttons Bay High School’s Student of the Month. Cameron is the son of Pat McCool and Maureen Penfold. Cameron is a junior and is an all-around wonderful individual. Cameron is a kid who has matured into a thoughtful and responsible young man. He has made great strides in his high school career. Cameron is also involved in many activities such as soccer, basketball, and Robotics. He is a mentor for elementary students. Academically Cameron is a part of the National Honor Society, on the honor roll and an Academic Achiever. Most importantly, Cameron is very kind and helpful toward others. We are proud to nominate Cameron this Magaly Rios is a responsible and respectful student. She is pleasant to have in class and kind. Magaly is helpful to her classmates and a good friend. She is attentive to details with assignments and thorough with her work. She is a focused student. Several teachers noted her kindness to other. Ashlie Proudfoot is very conscientious of her academic work. She challenges herself to excel. She enjoys all of the academic subjects, but she really likes Language Arts. Ashlie is kind to the students in her classroom. She is a nice girl and good friend to others. Ashlie is great at using her manners. Ashlie shows a strong sense of responsibility. month.
