2015 Parent Letter - Pleasant Local Schools

PLEASANT HIGH SCHOOL THEATER DEPARTMENT
________________________________________________________________________
Dear Parents, Family & Friends of Our Cast,
I am writing to you on behalf of Pleasant High School Musical Theater Department as the
producer for this year’s musical “How To Succeed In Business”, under the direction of Mary Stoneburner
and Lynette Burris. The students are hard at work rehearsing for the show that will take place March13,
14 and 15 at Marion’s historical Palace Theatre. We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful venue in
which to perform and a wonderful staff to produce our musical, but it does not come to us for free and so
we need your help.
The creative process is very exciting. Every year our directors and students put on a high quality
show to be enjoyed by the community. This year the costume chairpersons have the task of procuring
multiple costumes for the 80 students involved.
Every year the cost of production increases. It is our hope that with support from our community
that we will be able to raise enough money to help cover the majority our production expenses. We will
need your help to do it. With ever rising costs and school cut backs, it is difficult to produce a quality
show within a very limited budget. In order to bring to the community a show of which to be proud, the
cost is between $10,000 and $15,000 to get it to the stage. The majority of the costs are incurred in
purchasing the rights for use of the show’s script and musical score.
Several years ago I implemented a “Costume Angel” project to help supplement funds for
costumes and incidentals. This project has been successful in helping to defray a majority of the
expenses for the costumes that need to be purchased or rented as well as props. So once again, I am
asking for your help. Any individual or family who donates to this project will be listed in our program. You
may donate at one of several levels as a costume sponsor. If you are unable to donate yourself, but know a
business or an individual who may like to help us, please pass along the costume sponsor form or the
business sponsorship information to them or have them contact me.
Additionally, if you know of a business which can offer a service or product donation to our group, that
also will be recognized in our program. Items such as water, snacks or meals would be greatly appreciated.
More than 80 students, as well as many other support staff, spend the entire show week at the Palace
Theatre rehearsing, performing and working backstage and behind the scenes long hours to put
everything together for a quality show.
We would greatly appreciate any donation that would help us in any way. I know that money is tight
for everyone in today’s economic situation, as it is for our production. No donation is too small. Anything
you are willing to do for us would be enormously appreciated. If you have any questions please feel free to
give me a call at 740-360-3741 or e-mail me at [email protected].
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Ann Baker
Producer
