ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Sunday, February 15, we will have a special “Healing Service” at both the 9 AM
and 11:15 AM services. Therefore, I want to strongly encourage and invite you, friends
and family to come, all who may benefit from this glorious opportunity, to be prayed for
and over. Please be much in prayer for these services and let’s stand together on the
Word of God which says, 13 “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone
happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the
elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.
If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and
pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful
and effective.” (James 5:13-16 NIV) Pastor David
Today is the Souper Bowl of Caring which supports local missions. Youth and
friends-of-youth will be in the narthex after both services with soup pots. The money
collected is donated to the Washington Street United Methodist Church Soup Cellar.
Thank you in advance for supporting this mission and the youth of NEUMC.
The youth will meet this afternoon at 6:30 PM in the Youth Rooms to watch the Super
Bowl, fellowship and eat. Bring a heavy snack to share and join us. Everyone is
welcome. The youth will not meet at 5 PM today.
The United Methodist Men will have their monthly meeting tomorrow evening at 6:30
PM in room 102. Dinner will start at 6:30 and the meeting will begin at 7 PM. Dinner
donation is $5.00. Fathers, sons and grandsons are invited to participate each month in
our regular meeting.
The Witness Ministry Team is collecting coats, hats and gloves to give away next
Saturday to those in need in our community. If you have something to contribute, please
see Debbie Watford or take your items to Room 207 in the Education Building by
Wednesday, February 4. Thank you for your help with this project!
First Friday Movie Night is February 6, 6-8 PM. Join us in pjs for a movie and snacks
with your friends. Drop the kids off at 6 PM and pick them up at 8 PM and enjoy your
evening. Cost is $2 per child with a $5 family cap. It’s an inexpensive date night and
the kids have fun too!
New Member/Enquirer Class: Would you like to know more about NEUMC? Join us
on Sunday, February 8, 3:30 PM in the Education Building, Youth Rooms as we present
an overview of what it means to be a Methodist; a brief presentation of the various
ministries at NEUMC; and inviting you to ask questions you might have. Childcare is
provided. Please let us know if you plan to attend.
The UMW will meet on Monday, February 9 at 7 PM in room 102. Please come and join
us! Point of contact is Inez McLaurin at 788-6167.
The Wholly Oldies will meet on Tuesday, February 10. We will meet earlier than usual
at 9:30 AM to do some cleaning in the church building. At 11:30 we'll enjoy a potluck
lunch. Hope to see you there. Jane DeCristofaro, 609-0233

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Have mercy upon us, O God, according to your lovingkindness. According to the multitude
of your tender mercies, blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquities,

Jesus Christ our Lord. (W. E. ORCHARD, ENGLAND, 20TH CENT., ALT.)

We are so glad that you are here and hope
you feel at home as you join us in worship.
We’d like to get to know you better.
Do not be afraid of what you are about to
suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of
you in prison to test you, and you will suffer
persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even
to the point of death, and I will give you the

Revelation 2:8-11 (NIV)
8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna
write: These are the words of him who is
the First and the Last, who died and came
to life again.
9 I know your afflictions and your poverty-yet you are rich! I know the slander of those
who say they are Jews and are not, but are
a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not be afraid of what you are about
to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some
of you in prison to test you, and you will
suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful,
even to the point of death, and I will give
you the crown of life.
11 He who has an ear, let him hear what
the Spirit says to the churches. He who
overcomes will not be hurt at all by the
second death.

FAMILY MINISTRY MINUTE
In the Setting Your Marriage Free small
group, we have looked at three essential
characteristics of healthy and effective
marriages- Adaptability, Availability and
Accountability. Each of these begins in our
relationships with Christ and extends out to
our marriages.
