Tomorrow’s
Leaders
ABOUT GENERAL SESSION I: Embark upon a journey through
the dawn of the information age with college student Travis
Allen. Experience the life of a true digital native who boldly
refused to accept the status quo in the classroom.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Travis Allen is a young visionary for digital
learning in the classroom. Before graduating high school,
Travis created a viral YouTube video on revolutionizing
America’s education through mobile learning. Today, he is a
senior at Kennesaw State University (KSU) where he operates
his growing organization, iSchool Initiative. With the support of
his team, Travis has presented in over 30 states & 7 countries
allowing him to reach an audience of over 200,000 people.
He has been featured on CNN, Huffington Post, and Forbes;
in addition, he is the winner of the 2012 Google Young Minds
competition and was invited to the White House for the
Education Datapalooza Event. Travis is quickly becoming
one of the top leaders in the emerging digital learning
movement.
ABOUT GENERAL SESSION II: Attendees will exit with an
understanding of how to reach the hyper-connected
Millennial and wake them up for “deep learning.” This
Millennial generation can be inspired, engaged, and
learn to synthesize when educators pay attention to five
key characteristics. This keynote should give you ideas for
repackaging research, reading and instruction for Millennials.
Carpe Diem! Get kids thinking and building knowledge.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Paige Jaeger is an educational
consultant delivering professional development at the local,
state, and national levels. She is widely published in many
educational journals and serves on the advisory board for
Scholastic Administr@tor magazine. Her three books were
published recently by Libraries Unlimited: RX for the Common
Core and Think Tank Library. Paige spent 10 years teaching
at both the elementary and secondary levels before serving
as a regional level administrator. Paige believes this Millennial
generation needs to think and has spent the past 15 years
in education encouraging kids to think deeply, synthesize
and achieve. Via consulting and her publications, she
advocates for a paradigm shift from “fact-fetching” to
deep understanding. Co-author of the WISE Inquiry method,
Paige believes kids should wonder, investigate, synthesize
and express their knowledge. As an administrator, Paige
believed in building capacity for research via an informationtechnology partnership. Technology without information
is useless and information without technology is dull. She
considers herself a lemon loaf aficionado and chocoholic. In
her former life, she was a computer programmer and mother.
