Providing Advanced Customer Insight and Control
The Grid Director Energy Visualization and Efficiency application provides
analysis, reporting and visualization of energy use for utility residential and
commercial customers, and integrates seamlessly with demand response, peak
pricing, and other utility programs and technologies.
Based on open standards (e.g. WSRP 2.0 / JSR 286), this application can be
embedded as a web portal, integrated within an existing utility web site or
served with third party applications. Customers gain the ability to interact
with the energy data received from networked meters, providing them with a
genuine, direct, and tangible benefit from the Smart Grid system, and the utility
itself gains tremendous flexibility in its program options.
Integration with utility billing systems as well as AMI systems aggregate,
correlate, analyze and present information such as daily consumption, hourly
consumption and comparisons with neighbours or other similar sites to the
customer, and can be further enhanced with weather information analysis and
other data sources. Commercial customers are also supported with account
aggregation and disaggregation, property comparisons, and commercial rate
factor calculation and presentation.
With access to direct information presented within a contextualized and
easy-to-use web portal, residential and industrial customers benefit from
a much more useful view of their power consumption than they typically
had before, engendering a more positive and trusting relationship with
the utility, and fostering conservation behavior and initiatives.
GD-APPL-EVPORTAL-0410
The Grid Director Energy Visualization and Efficiency
application enables utilities to provide customers with the
information they need: when and where they need it, helping
in ways ranging from enabling manufacturing facilities to make
more informed choices about their equipment utilization,
to empowering residential customers to make energy
conservation a natural behavior.
By taking control of energy presentment, utilities are in a position to integrate seamlessly
with third party energy visualization providers, or to retain all or part of the energy
presentment themselves and avoid disintermediation.
Energy efficiency is becoming part of the utility’s core business. New programs enabled by
electrical grid advancements can make significant gains in this area, especially as efficient
use of energy represents one of the most favorable means of ‘generating’ power.
> Built-in responsive design presents the most useful interface automatically, no matter
what the client (phone, tablet, computer, or other device).
> Support of Demand Response technologies for critical event management, time of use
pricing for shift loading, peak pricing for demand levelling, and other programs are also
present, within a very flexible and easy to integrate environment.
> Program tracking helps the utility understand which initiatives are leading to significant
savings, and which are less successful and well utilized.
> Green Button compliance ensures forward compatibility with future services.
