* JANUARY 30, 2015 * MISSION STATEMENT St. Scholastica Academy is a Catholic, all-girls, college-preparatory high school located in Covington, Louisiana. Founded in 1903, SSA perpetuates the Benedictine tradition of balancing prayer, work, study, and community in developing adolescent girls into Christian women grounded in the Gospel values of the Catholic faith. Once the site visit is completed, the team will give us an indication of whether we will receive a re-accreditation. It will take about a month to receive an official report. We will give you an update as soon as we receive our report. I would also like to encourage all of our parents and friends of the Academy to plan to attend Falaya Fling on March 21 for an evening of fun. There are two raffles that you should know about: one is for $2,500 cash and the other is for a top-of-the-line MacBook Pro. There is a drawing for an extra ticket each month ‘til the Fling for those who have already purchased their tickets. The band is Five Finger Discount, which should guarantee a fun evening of dancing. Many hands are needed to help put on this event with a quality that the community has come to expect. The Friday before and part of that Saturday, we decorate. Sunday is, of course, clean-up and bringing everything back to school. The more people that we have to do these tasks, the more quickly they will get done. Setting up and taking down, believe it or not, is a fun event in itself. Everyone is working toward a common goal, meeting and working alongside people they perhaps did not know before this event. We hope to see you there! If you are interested in helping, please call Lindsay VanAs ‘95 for more details. (985) 892-2540, ext. 119.
