February25,2015marksthe29thanniversaryofthe1986EDSAPeoplePowerRevolution.The
date, by virtue of Proclamation No. 655 (s. 2013) is commemorated as the revolution that
“restoredandusheredpolitical,socialandeconomicreformsinthecountry.”
Bytradition,pastPhilippinePresidentsvisitthevariouscommemorationsitessignificanttothe
1986revolutionduringFebruary25.In2014,PresidentAquino brokeawayfromtraditionin
ordertorecognizethepeoplewhohavequietlykeptthespiritofPeoplePoweralivebystanding
bytheirfellowFilipinointimesofgreatestneed.Heledcelebrationsofthe28thAnniversaryof
theEDSAPeoplePowerRevolutionindifferentdisaster‐strickenprovinces,whererecoveryis
evident thanks to the unity and solidarity manifested by different sectors of society. (source:

In light of this new tradition, the Third Global Summit participants are invited to join the
“BalikbayaniTour”especiallypreparedforthehomecomingofthisnation’smodern‐dayheroes.
This optional tour prepared in partnership with the Department of Tourism aims to give
participantsafreshperspectiveofPhilippinehistorybytouringsignificantplacesintheCityof
Manila.
