Possessive nouns are nouns that show ownership or possession. Normally these words would be a singular or plural noun, but in the possessive form they are used as adjectives to modify another noun or pronoun. The cat’s fur is soft. Here the word “cat‟s” is a possessive noun. It is letting you know that the noun “fur” belongs to the cat. The cat owns the fur. We use apostrophe („s) to show belonging or possession instead of phrase “belongs to” or Of. Ex- This hose belongs to Mr. Jack. We can write This is Mr. Jack’s house. If a noun is singular add an apostrophe („) before “S”. But for a plural noun add („) apostrophe after „S‟. Task- 1. Read the information from Lexis Smart Grammar Book, Pg- 50.
