Chapter Director
Hello Everyone!
S
pring is coming soon! We just have to get pass
the snow, rain and low temps. We have the
fundraiser flyer done and will bring it to the next
meeting. At this time we have the North Carolina
Drill team coming up to do a show for us at 10:30. As
for the dunk tank, Dennis Weston our district director
will be there to get wet. Dave, Dianne, Ann and I went
to the District Meeting in January in North Garden.
Dave filed our tax forms. A tentative schedule was
done for all the chapter fundraisers.
have that for you soon.
Mike Hirsh will be our chapter’s new Membership
Enhancement Coordinator (MEC) as of 2-1-15 so
lets give Les a big hand for a job well done. Mike will
be getting sworn in at our next meeting, so come out
and support him in his new job. Thank you Mike.
Wow, the new Marble game that we started in January
started with a bang!!!! Gary Hoover won the first pot.
Rally in the Valley will be at the same location as
last year in Roanoke with a tentative date of October
1-3, 2015. District has put together an entrainment
program with each chapter doing a skit about states.
We pulled a card for the state of Vermont. We will
bring this up at coming meetings. The chapter
received a $50.00 check back from District for the
Basket that was done for last year’s contribution.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the
Golden Corral in Harrisonburg on the 1st at 3:00 PM.
Remember that since Easter is the 5th of April our
April meeting will be on March 29th.
Thank you everyone for your support and participation.
Les has put together a list of rides starting with the
Highland Maple Festival ride; let’s hope for no snow,
rain or low temps. Gary Hoover is working on hotel
rooms for us for the Kitty Hawk Ride. We should

VA-R Calendar
Hello Friends
February 2015
T
onight I see that a major snow storm is headed across
us fast to head up to New England and to there “dump”
copious amounts of snow. We however, are planning our
rides for the fresh year, getting our bikes / trikes ready,
and are anxious to make use of some good weather.
If you look at the schedule, you’ll see that we have a ride
soon on March 14th (rain date is the 21st, and look below for dinner ride note) to the “Highland Maple Festival”.
This ride is Chapter VA-R’s “Spring Wakeup Ride” so to
speak. We didn’t get to do this ride last year due to severe rain and high water in areas, soft ground for parking
so this will almost be new .... yes? The first group will
please leave Blue Ridge Power Sports at 9:00 AM, jump
over to Rt 42 South and ride to meet the second group at
Tastee Freeze in Churchville @ Rt. 42 / 250 intersection.
We’ll plan to depart from there by 9:45 AM to head west
on Rt 250 with a lunch in McDowell (firehouse / school
house /crafts / lunch / etc). Then we’ll ride up to Doe Hill
Maple Farm (short stop for coffee / hot chocolate / Maple
Syrup / fun) and then back home via Brandywine and
along Rt 33 East back to Harrisonburg and home.

weather is bad ... VA-R Dinner Ride to “Macado’s” (1950 Deyerle Ave, H-burg) @ 5:00 PM
Then on March 28th, Chapter VA-K is having their “Chili
Cookoff” at the Montvale Recreation Club. It runs from
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Since it’s another trip south, again
we’ll have the first group leave Blue Ridge Power Sports
but at 8:30 AM and come on down to Exit 200 there at the
Shell/Stop-In where we’ll meet up with whomever gathers
there (me) and head over for some good times and good
chili! Anyone on the east side near 29 might want to go
by Lynchburg way?

5:00 PM instead .... and likewise, if we have the Highland

It seems that director Tim is having
more and more problems with his
deserts. Ordering the largest chocolate desert on the menu seems to
attract a certain cast of participants
from the female persuasion who
have determined it is their divine right to indulge regardless of propriety concerns. One might even say it can get
‘out of hand’ now and then, and high drama results. But
what can one say when the lucky dude is surrounded by
hovering biker angels who spar for the sweetness he offers up? Ah, the life of a GWRRA director. How sweet it
is!
