Dealing with Drug
and Alcohol Problems
• Does someone you love struggle with abuse
and addiction?
• Have you tried talking, pleading, and trying to
control every move they make?
God’s healing begins with you and spreads
throughout the family. Join others in seeking
deliverance. We meet every Thursday night, 7:30 PM,
in the school for spiritual guidance, prayer and
worship.
For more information, call David Bowen at 786-280-5841.
According to Moses, the people decided they didn’t
want to hear God’s voice directly any more. It was much
too frightening. Why couldn’t God send human teachers,
prophets, instead? God agreed, but with a warning. The
people had better listen to those teachers, because they
spoke in God’s name.
That arrangement, though, had its own problems, for
them and for us. How do I know this teacher is truly from
God? And if the teacher is from God, are all parts of the
teaching meant for me? We have the Church and scripture
to help us with those questions, but still there are always a
few loose ends.
That is the powerful significance of the sentence
in today’s Gospel: “The people were astonished at his
teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and
not as the scribes.” The people knew that this Jesus was
authentic—truly a teacher sent by God. They knew it by

hearing him. Today’s Readings
First Reading — Moses spoke to all the people, saying: “A
prophet like me will the LORD, your God, raise up for you”
(Deuteronomy 18:15-20).
Psalm — If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts
(Psalm 95).
Second Reading — Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be
free of anxieties (1 Corinthians 7:32-35).
Gospel — The people were astonished at Jesus’ teaching; he
taught them as one having authority (Mark 1:21-28).

Pilgrimage to Fatima, Lourdes and
Santiago de Compostela
11 Days : October 6-16, 2015
We are the Archdiocese of Miami
Modeling our lives after Jesus’ example of love, we are able
to multiply the good in the world. Being Catholic is not
just a title, not something to do or a place to go; it is the
essence of who we are. Jesus Christ is the common thread
that binds us all—our parents and grandparents, our children
and grandchildren, you, me and each one of us. We embody
every race and ethnicity, old and young, men and women,
poor and rich. From Key West to north Broward, with more
than 1.3 million in our family, we are united in Him. We are
the Archdiocese of Miami.
The Archdiocese of Miami, through the Archbishop’s
Charities and Development Drive (ABCD), opens the door
for us all to unite as one community of believers to spread
the Good News of Jesus Christ and bring hope to those in
need. Let us, I... You... We..., unite in support of the ABCD.
We will be visiting: Lisbon, Fatima, Santiago de
Compostela, Salamanca, Avila, Madrid, Lourdes. This
pilgrimage will be hosted by Rev. Montas Onelien,
Fr. Andrew from St Bartholomew and Fr. Ernest
Biriruka of St John XXIII.
The cost is $3659 per person from Miami
(The price includes air/land tour price of $2979 plus $680 government
taxes/airline fuel surcharges.)
Please pick up an information packet at the rectory.
Happy Birthday Anna Marie!
Thank you for keeping our priests
well fed. May God continue
to bless you and your family.

nou tou ansanm – paran nou ak granparan nou, pitit nou
ak pitit-pitit nou, ou menm, mwen menm ak nou chak. Nou
repranzante chak ras ak chak kilti, granmoun tankou timoun,
rich ak pòv. Soti Key West pou rive nan Nò Broward, avèk
plis pase 1.3 milyon moun nan fanmiy nou an, nou fè yon sèl
kò nan Li. Nou se Acheveche Miami an.
Atravè Kanpay Charite ak Devlòpman Achevèk la (ABCD),
Acheveche Miami an ouvè pòt pou nou tout yon fason pou n
kab rive met tèt nou ansanm pou n fòme yon kominote moun
ki kwè e ki pral simaye Bòn Nouvèl Jezi-Kri a e pote lespwa
bay sila yo ki nan bezwen. Se pou mwen menm… Ou menm…
nou tout…, mete tèt nou ansanm pou sipòte ABCD a.

Dios enviar a maestros o profetas humanos? Dios aceptó pero con una
advertencia.

Dios. Lo sabían con sólo escucharle. Ojalá escuchen hoy su voz;
no endurezcan sus corazones
(Salmo 95 [94]).

es sólo un título, no es tener algo que hacer o un lugar a donde ir;

a nuestro Señor Jesucristo”.
