Ven y Vea – Una Invitación para
Compartir la Visión de Cristo
El evangelio hoy, presenta el primer encuentro entre Jesús y los que serán sus discípulos.
Jesús comienza con una pregunta que llega al corazón del discipulado: “¿Qué están buscando?” Y
nosotros, ¿Qué estamos buscando? ¿Famal?
¿Riquezas? ¿Comodidad? ¿Poder? Si somos honestos, estamos buscando la felicidad en esta vida y
en la eternidad. Es apropiado que
dos discípulos de Juan Bautista
buscan a Jesús, porque habían
sido enseñados esperar lo que
hay de venir.
Le responden: “Maestro,
¿dónde vives”? La pregunta toca
el nivel más profundo de la felicidad; viviendo dónde Dios vive; y
encontrando algo que perdura. Lo
maravilloso de la encarnación es
Dios se hizo humano. Mientras lo
buscamos a él, Dios llega en medio de nosotros para mostrarnos
el camino. Cristo no vino al mundo para que se quedara lo mismo,
sino para que sea transformado
en un lugar donde se siente su
presencia en todas partes.
Jesús les contesta: “Ven y
ve”. Responde con el desafío fundamental de la
fe: permitir que Jesús entrara a nuestros corazones y comenzar a transformarnos por su amor.

Come and See - An Invitation to
Share Christ’s Vision
This Sunday’s gospel presents us with Jesus’ first encounter with those who would become
his followers. Jesus begins with a question at the
heart of discipleship: “What do you seek”? (John
1:38) What are we looking for? Riches? Comfort?
Power? Fame? If we are honest, we are seeking
that which will make us happy in this life and in
the next.
It is fitting that two disciples of John the Baptist came to
Jesus. They have been taught to
seek the one who is to come. They
respond: “Rabbi, where are you
staying”?
The question touches the
deepest level of happiness; dwelling where God dwells and finding
something that is lasting. The wonder of God coming in the flesh is
that while we are seeking him, he
comes among us to show us the
way. Christ did not come to leave
the world as it was, but to transform it into a place where God’s
dwelling
will
be
experienced
everywhere.
Jesus says: “Come and you will
see”. He answers with the all-embracing challenge
of faith: to let Christ enter our hearts and transform them through his love. Throughout John’s
gospel, the theme of “coming” to Jesus describes

bién, “ver” a Jesús es captar más profundamente
su visión. En otro lugar, Juan escribe: “Hemos
visto y hemos oido… la Palabra que es vida se
manifestó. Esta vida que se manifestó y la vimos,
y hemos dado testimonio a ella… Les anunciamos,
pues, lo que hemos visto y oído, para que ustedes
estén unidos con nosotros como nosotros estamos
unidos con Dios el Padre y con su Hijo Jesucristo”.
(1 Juan 1:3-4) Si buscamos la felicidad plena,
vamos a buscar a personas que han sido captados
por una visión de un mundo saturado con el amor
de Cristo.
Dr. Martín Lutero King, Jr. era un profeta de nuestros tiempos que proclamaba la palabra
de Dios, dando testimonio de lo que él había visto
y escuchado- la visión que Cristo presenta a los
que tienen la confianza que sea realizada. Dr.
King proclamaba:
“Yo les digo hoy, mis amigas y amigos,
que, a pesar de las dificultades
y frustraciones del momento,
yo sigo con mi sueño. Es un
sueño profundamente arraigado en el sueño estadounidense.
“Tengo un sueño que
algún día esta nación se levantará y vivirá el significado verdadero
de
su
creencia:
‘Mantenemos que estas verdades son evidentes - que todos
los seres humanos están creados iguales’.
“Tengo un sueño que
algún día sobre las colinas coloradas de Georgia descendientes de esclavos y descendientes de dueños de esclavos
podrán sentarse junto a la mesa de hermandad.
“Tengo un sueño que mis cuatro hijos pequeños algún día vivirán en una nación en que no
serán juzgados por el color de su piel, sino por la
cualidad de su carácter”.
Cuando oramos, ¿nos capta la visión del
Reino de Dios? ¿Está reflejada en nuestras oraciones? Los últimos meses, hemos enfocado en “Orar
con Todo Nuestro Corazón” para que el amor de
Cristo nos levantara y nos llenara, y nos inspirara
a compartir lo que hemos recibido con los demás.
Hemos visto y hemos escuchado; ahora tenemos
que proclamar a otros para que puedan compartir
en nuestro gozo y para que su alegría sea repleta.

Likewise, “seeing” Jesus often refers to the
deeper vision of faith. Elsewhere, John writes:
“We have seen and we have heard…the Word who
is life was made visible; we saw it and we are giving testimony… What we have seen and heard we
are telling you so that you may have union with us
as we are in union with the Father and with Jesus
Christ”. (1 John 1:3-4) If we seek this deepest
happiness, we will be caught up in a vision of a
world saturated with Christ’s love.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a
prophet of our times who proclaimed God’s message, giving witness to what he had seen, heard,
and experienced - the vision Christ presents to
those who believe in him. Dr. King proclaimed:
“I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of
the difficulties and frustrations of the moment I
still have a dream.
“I have a dream that one
day this nation will rise up and
live out the true meaning of its
creed: ‘We hold these truths to be
self-evident- that all people are
created equal’.
“I have a dream, that one
day on the red hills of Georgia,
the children of slaves and the
children of slave owners will be
able to sit down at the table of
fellowship.
“I have a dream that my
four little children will one day
live in a nation where they will be
judged, not by the color of their
skin, but by the content of their
character”.
“This is our hope. This is the faith
I shall return to the South with. With this faith we
will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair
a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to
transform the jangling discords of our nation into
a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this
faith we will be able to work together, pray together, go to jail together, stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day…..
When we pray, does this vision of God’s
Kingdom inspire our words? The last few months,
we tried to deepen our prayer life, so that Jesus’
love might lift us up, fill us with hope, and urge us
to share this love with others. We have seen and
we have heard, and now we must tell others.

Fabulous Free Concert at St. Pius V
St. Pius V will again welcome the University of
Chicago Motet Choir for a soaring free musical concert at 7:00 pm, Sat, Jan 24, in our church. "The
performance last year was magnificent," said Fr.
Brendan. "Don’t miss this year’s concert." Light

We warn everyone to be careful and inform
others that there is no way to apply for deferred
action for parents with children who are not citizens. Please do not be deceived by notaries or
lawyers. We must wait for the regulations to be
published in May before we can apply, and then
