very selfish ways, but we find that when we look for
ways to make others happy, it is then that we truly
become happy.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to 2015. We hope you had a wonderful holiday and that the awful weather was
not too problematic. Thank you, school parents, for the generous Christmas gift! I appreciate it very much.
The seventh graders and I have been working hard since we returned from Christmas vacation. Since we
missed two days of school due to the cold weather, the students took their Spelling test on unusual plurals on
Monday. In Religion we have begun to study the parables of Jesus. We are studying the cosmos in Science, and
the joining of the colonies into one entity in Social Studies. In VC we are determining the meanings of
proverbs: “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy” is one to which the students really relate!

Queridos feligreses y amigos:
“Master, where are you staying?” Today’s gospel
shows us the search of the disciples of John, which is
the same search for every human being.
“Maestro, ¿dónde vives?” El evangelio de hoy nos
muestra la búsqueda de los discípulos de Juan, que es
la búsqueda de todo ser humano.
Man has always searched for God, because
throughout their daily lives they experience their
limitations and their poverty, while discovering their
calling for a full and happy life that one cannot be
assured.
El hombre ha buscado siempre a Dios, porque en su
caminar diario experimenta su pequeñez, sus
limitaciones y su pobreza, a la vez que descubre en
su interior un llamado a una vida plena y feliz que él
mismo no se puede asegurar. Señor, ¿Dónde vives?
Es como preguntar: Señor, ¿dónde puedo encontrar el
sentido a mi vida, donde está la felicidad, donde
habita el amor, la paz, el perdón, la alegría, la
esperanza, donde está la Vida con una gran V?
Lord, where are you staying? It is like asking, “Lord,
where can I find the meaning of my life, where
happiness is, where love is, where peace, pardon, joy,
and hope are? Where is Life with a capital L?
Jesus’ response is very important because it is not an
explanation but an invitation: “Come and you will
see”. It is an invitation to put us on track like the
pastors, like the Magi, like Abraham, like Exodus…
Also, after the resurrection He will tell the apostles to
go to Galilee and they will see.
La respuesta de Jesús es muy importante, porque no
es una explicación sino una invitación: “Ven y lo
verás”. Es una invitación a ponernos en camino,
como los pastores, como los Reyes Magos, como
Abrahán, como el éxodo… también después de
resucitado le dirá a los apóstoles que vayan a Galilea,
pues allí lo verán.
We begin Ordinary Time with an invitation from
Jesus and begin to walk. During this time, we shall
listen and receive the sacraments; we shall walk
towards the Lord, and with Him, until we have
reached the goal and discover who was the One who
looked for us and found us.
Comenzamos este tiempo ordinario con la invitación
de Jesús a ponernos a caminar. Durante este tiempo
escucharemos su palabra, recibiremos sacramentos,
iremos caminando hacia el Señor y con Él, hasta que
lleguemos a la meta y descubramos que fue él quien
nos buscó y nos encontró.
I hope that this Ordinary Time can be the most
extraordinary one that we have lived. During this
week we shall pray for unity among all Christians.
Let us ask God to show us to walk together towards
Him, because only then can we love each other.
Ojalá que este tiempo ordinario sea el más
extraordinario que hayamos vivido nunca. En esta
semana oramos por la unidad de los cristianos.
Pidamos al Señor que nos enseñe a caminar juntos
hacia él, pues solo entonces podremos amarnos entre
nosotros.
We pray for unity within among our own parish and
of the Church. Also, let us pray for all of those who
accept Jesus as their Lord, but who are not in full
communion with the Church founded on the rock,
who is the Pope, successor of St. Peter. May the
Lord grant us a day when we can all celebrate the
Eucharist together.
