1st CALL FOR PAPERS 3rd International Language and Interaction Conference CLI 2015 June 17-19, 2015 São Leopoldo, Brazil http://www.unisinos.br/eventos/linguagem-e-interacao/ The 3rd International Language and Interaction Conference (CLI 2015) invites submissions for individual presentations, coordinated sessions and posters on all scientific approaches which analyze and interpret the relationship between language and interaction. Looking at interaction from a broad perspective, since 2005 the Conference has aimed at promoting discussions on topics related to the studies of language and interaction, encouraging interactional practices among different areas of studies, such as Languages and Linguistics, Social Sciences, Collective Health, Education and Philosophy. The Conference will accept papers from national and international participants in the following thematic areas: 1. Interaction and teaching/learning of the L1 2. Interaction and teaching/learning of the L2/FL 3. Interaction and literacy 4. Interaction and literary production 5. Interaction and technologies 6. Interaction and institutional practices 7. Interaction and genres/discourse 8. Interaction and gender 9. Interaction and healthcare 10. Interaction and cognition I. General Submission Guidelines 1. All abstracts must be submitted through the Conference website. 2. Proposals in Portuguese, English and Spanish will be accepted. 3. The abstract should be written in the language in which the paper will be presented. 4. Participants must choose one type of submission: individual presentation, coordinated session or poster (See item III for specific guidelines on each presentation format). 5. Abstracts will be blindly reviewed, so authors should not include their names or otherwise reveal their identity anywhere in the body of the abstract. There are appropriate fields on the conference website submission page where all of the authors’ names should be informed. 6. Authors who have their abstracts accepted may choose to submit their full text to be published in the Conference proceedings. The submission of the full text is NOT mandatory; it is the participant’s choice. The expiration date for the submission of full texts is April 1, 2015. 7. All authors must pay for their conference registration fee by April 1, 2015 in order to have their proposals included in the conference final program and proceedings. As per the guidelines provided in this document, only registration for participants not presenting papers will be accepted after this date. II. Registration fees Early bird registration Deadline: January 30, 2015 Professionals presenting papers or posters R$ 275,00 Undergraduate and graduate students presenting papers or posters R$ 175,00 Participants NOT presenting papers or posters R$ 150,00 Regular registration Deadline: April 1, 2015. Note: This is the expiration date for authors who are presenting at the Conference to pay for their registration fees, so that their presentation can be included in the Conference’s final program and/or the Conference proceedings. Professionals presenting papers or posters R$ 300,00 Undergraduate and graduate students presenting papers or posters R$ 200,00 Participants NOT presenting papers or posters R$ 150,00 Regular registration (Audit only participants) Deadline: June 17, 2015 Note: Starting on April 2, 2015 only registrations for participants NOT presenting will be accepted. Participants who have submitted presentation proposals, but have not paid their registration fees before April 1, 2015 will have their presentations deleted from the Conference’s final program. Even though these participants will NOT present, they can still register to attend the Conference only. Participants NOT presenting papers or posters R$ 150,00 III. Presentation Format: Specific Submission Guidelines1 Abstracts must not exceed 4.000 characters (with spaces), including references. Authors may submit a maximum of one single-authored and two jointly-authored oral presentation abstracts. Abstracts must not inform the author(s) name(s). Abstract must be submitted through the Conference website: http://www.unisinos.br/eventos/linguagem-e-interacao/. a) Individual Presentations will be 15 minutes each, with a 5-minute question-and-answer period. b) Coordinated Sessions must be organized according to a specific theme or topic, following the Conference’s thematic areas. Each coordinated session should have from three to four presenters, and should last 90 minutes, allowing at least 15 minutes for each presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and general discussions. Coordinated session proposals must be sent by the following e-mail: [email protected]. You can find a brief outline of a coordinated session proposal in the end of this call for presentation. Proposals must contain the coordinated session name, coordinator session’s name and an abstract, not exceeding 4.000 characters (with spaces), including references, in which the session’s coordinator describes the theme of the coordinated session and its relevance for the Conference. The session abstract must be followed by the abstracts of each work to be presented in the session, including the title of the abstract, the name of the author and the abstract (not exceeding 4.000 characters). All members of the coordinated session must submit their abstracts individually through the Conference website, meeting the deadline of November 20, 2014. c) Posters will be presented in a special session at the conference, when authors should present. Posters are typically a good format for presentations where visual display of tables, graphs, maps, etc. are particularly important. Abstracts for posters should not exceed 4.000 characters (with spaces), including references. Undergraduate students may only submit poster proposals. 1 In the Conference website, you can access our tutorial in English explaining the entire submission process. IV. Certificates All participants presenting at the Conference must have paid their registration fee to be eligible to receive their certificate(s) on the day(s) of their presentation(s). A certificate for participation can be requested by the participant at the University’s Academic Records Department after the Conference is finished. V.
