WELCOME TO OUR NEW PRIEST
FR. SALVATORE SPORTINO
Father Sportino was born in Calabria,
Italy. His siblings live in Germany,
Morocco, and Calabria, Italy. After
high school he moved to Rome where he
started his studies in Philosophy. He did
this in the John Paul II Seminary. He started his Masters for
Liturgical Theology at San Anselmo College. Shy of
finishing his degree in Liturgical studies he was ordained a
priest on October 19, 1991 and was assigned to a Parish for
the following seven years. He was sent as a chaplain for
Italians in Switzerland, London, Montreal and New York
where he ministered until recently.
Fr. Sal will be here on January 1, 2017. We are thankful to
God that he has undertaken this new mission in Miami. Father speaks various languages and we are very happy to have
him and welcome him as a part of our Parish family.
PARISH PASTORAL INSTITUE
The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12)
By Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro
Tuesday December 13, 7:29 p.m.
AE-102-103
Christians are often accused of still “living in the Old Testament” as we still use the Ten Commandments,
given to Moses at Mount Sinai. In the Beatitudes or,
as is commonly known “The Sermon on the Mount,”
the Lord gives us a “new commandment of the new
dispensation.” Come to learn how the Beatitudes fulfill and
refine the 10 Commandments...Jesus law of Love.

PASTOR’S REFLECTION
Third Sunday of Advent
December 11, 2016
Dear Friends,
Monsignor Bryan O. Walsh Council #13369 is hosting
Our4 culture breeds impatience and impatience begets
anger and frustration. Take time, not only during
Advent… but each day to breathe in the Spirit of God
and say, “give me patience, Lord.” Then exhale anger,
upset and impatience. Staring at a garden won’t make
a shoot spring up any faster; however giving thanks
for the seed, the water the soil and the Giver of all life
can deepen our trust that the garden will grow. So be
patient. Rejoice always. See and be then signs of
God’s beauty and bounty in our world today.
MEN’S MORNING OF REFLECTION 2017
Take time to refresh the life of the Spirit that has been
given you. Then witness your faith like disciples
and believers throughout the ages. Be assured of my
prayers for you and for your dear ones, particularly
during this Advent Season. May the good Lord bless
you with wisdom and peace. Please pray for me.
In Christ,
Msgr. Pablo A.. Navarro

RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS
PopeFrancis@ pontifex
Advent is a time to prepare our hearts
to receive Christ, our Savior and
hope.
Aging religious need your help. Senior Catholic sisters,
brothers, and religious order priests have offered their
lives in service to others - educating the young,
comforting the sick, seeking justice for the oppressed.
Today, many are frail, elderly, and in need of assistance.
Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps to
furnish medications, nursing care, and other necessities.

ADVENT IS A SEASON OF WAITING,
BUT IT’S NOT A SEASON OF WAITING AROUND.
What if we used this Advent, coming in a time of increased division, as
a time of action and change?
In other words, what if we looked for opportunities to see and proclaim God’s reign among
us?
One weekly action will be connected with governance or civil society; one will be connected to loving our neighbors;
and one will be rooted on transformation and conversation at home or among friends. We hope you'll join in this shared
project toward justice and action this Advent.
ADVENT ACTIONS:
· Visit a restaurant owned by someone from a different culture. Strike up a conversation. Do you share any hopes or
fears?
· Call your local mayor, state or federal official’s office. Share your hopes for your town or city, state and country.
do your hopes sound like Isaiah 2:1-5 (the first reading from today)? Why or why not?
· Gather friends or family around a meal table. Talk about how recent trends (rise in hate crimes, increased fear,
violence, division) in the United States might or might not make this Advent different from previous ones.
Remember to share your experience with friends, either in person or online.
Are you wondering where God is in your life today? Are you wondering
where God is in our world? Like those on the road to Emmaus, we all need
a companion on the wayA Spiritual Companion might be the answer for you. If you are interested in someone who can help you explore
these questions in your life you are in luck. At St John Neumann we have a number of people trained in the art of
Spiritual Companioning and with servant hearts. Take an opportunity to explore God’s invitation to you to look
deeper, ask questions and have someone walk with you in these questioning days.
You can contact any of these people to share your walk with them:

NOTICIAS DEL APOSTOLADO HISPANO
REFLEXIÓN DEL PÁRROCO
TERCER DOMINGO EN EL ADVIENTO
11 DE DICIEMBRE DEL 2016
Queridos Amigos,
Nuestra cultura engendra la impaciencia y la impaciencia
hermana a la ira y la frustración. Tomen tiempo, no solo
Pídanle a
Dios que les demuestre formas de responder a Su Palabra
y a Su Plan divino. Por favor oren por mi Augúrense que
los tengo a ustedes y a sus seres queridos en mis oraciones
diarias, especialmente durante esta santa temporada de
Adviento. Que Dios los bendiga!
En Cristo,
Mons. Pablo A. Navarro
