– “Blessed are those who remain faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them
by others and forgive them from their heart.”
– “Blessed are those who look into the eyes of the abandoned and marginalized
and show them their closeness.”
– “Blessed are those who see God in every person and strive to make others
also discover Him.”
– “Blessed are those who protect and care for our common home.”
– “Blessed are those who renounce their own comfort in order to help others.”
– “Blessed are those who pray and work for full communion between
Christians.”
“All these are messengers of God’s mercy and tenderness, surely they will receive from Him their
merited reward.”

Have you sponsored a Christmas tree yet? Have you dedicated a chair yet in our new Chapel?
Have you made an "end of the year" tax deductible donation? Have you added the parish to the bequests in
your will? Have you decided to increase your Sunday donation in the next year?
Our annual celebration of light will begin with our tree lighting on Saturday, December 10th
after the 5 pm Mass. The trees will be lit every night until the Epiphany in January.
Along with celebrating the birth of Christ, the Light of the World, this annual event is also a fund raising
event for our parish. Despite what some people may think, we are still paying off the two million dollar
renovation of our lower church -- St. Joseph Chapel.
Thank you again for your continued pledges to the Generations of Faith Campaign which
will help to pay down our debt.
We like to keep our two Churches and other buildings in great shape and to
keep you proud to belong to such a beautiful parish for yourselves
and for your children and grandchildren.
These efforts cost a fortune and we DEPEND ON YOU to help us.
ADVENT CONFESSIONS
We urge you to receive the Sacrament of Penance
before Christmas. Confessions are heard every
Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Basilica.
On Monday, December 19th we
will be hearing Confessions

the Basilica in preparation for
Christmas.
We urge everyone to come to
receive this beautiful Sacrament as the proper
way to prepare ourselves for Christmas.

baptized into our Catholic faith during
the month of November, 2016:
Alexis Jesus Morales
Penelope Josephine Arfanis
We congratulate the following

2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Have you ever told someone some good news?
Were they happy to hear it? Did they listen to every word you said or
only some of the details?
