Page 3 www.stritaparish.org 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time- October 30, 2016 How blessed are we to be among those whom the Lord continues to seek and to find. [paraphrase of Luke’s Gospel today about the Tax collector being called from his perch in a tree] (Lk. 19:2-6). This week is one of special celebration; namely; FEASTS. On Tuesday we ‘Catholics’ go to Church as we do on all Holy Days designated for the Faithful to put aside an hour to remember. The Feast of All Saints Day is special because we get to call out to the Lord our names too by remembering the heroic virtues or acts that the saints exhibited. On All Saints Day we celebrate Mass like a Sunday with a Gloria, 3 readings, a sung Alleluia and special Preface commemorating All the Saints. Make it a special Day too for you and yours by looking up your Baptismal or Confirmation name and see how your Saint (s) are a model of inspiration. Go out for breakfast, make a special dessert or supper, light a candle in church for your yourself or your loved ones. Do not just make it a “good day” but a “great day” and a “Holy Day” to be remembered. Also, on November 2nd. We celebrate All Soul’s Day to remember our deceased relatives, parishioners and friends. Though not an holy day of obligation, All Soul’s Day is very important for us to “remember” those who have gone before us marked by faith.. You and your intentions will be remembered at our parish Masses throughout November. God bless, one and all! Fr. Jim Preskenis, C.S.C. Associate Pastor October 30, 2016 Evangelii Gauidium Del Escritorio Del Párroco The primary reason for evangelizing is the love of Jesus which we have received, the experience of salvation which urges us to ever greater love of him. Our parish raised $ (insert amount). While some go to serve in other countries to develop the Church and serve its people, all of us are called to pray and support the Missions from right where we live. To continue answering this call, download the MISSIO App which makes it possible for you to meet and support religious Sisters and Brothers, priests and dedicated lay leaders who provide help and hope in some of the world’s poorest places. These missionaries provide essential education and health care, social outreach and advocacy, and pastoral service. They address basic human needs, while in every moment offering spiritual comfort and support to the suffering and the marginalized. Join them in mission every day as you joined them this past World Mission Sunday! Envelopes to remember the Souls of your Faithful Departed can be found at the Church entrances.
