CONFERENCE APPOINTMENT LETTERS: Fall Parent/student/teacher conferences will be held November
17-22. We believe these conferences foster communication between home and school and are a valuable
resource for you and your child. We hope this time will be an important one to you. Your child is expected to
attend conferences with you. The students are proud of the work they have completed and look forward to
sharing future goals. Please review the letter and return the bottom portion as soon as possible.
HARVEST PARTIES: How do we celebrate the joy of classroom community at Sumas Elementary during the
harvest season? The answer is that it looks different in each classroom. It is celebrated with a variety of
activities from pumpkin carving to making scarecrows to playing harvest games. Friendship and caring for
each other is always the focus of celebrations. Read your classroom newsletter for specific information
about your child’s class activities. Classrooms will be sharing special treats. NO classroom, however, will
be wearing costumes or face paint.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Registration for girls basketball, grades 2-6 is starting now! Forms are available
through the Pioneer Girls Youth Athletic Association – PGYAA facebook group, their website
WWW.PGYAA.ORG, or by email [email protected]. Please call Jayson Loreen @ 360-510-6863 or Jessica
Smith @ 360-319-3813. Registration forms are due by 10/23/16.
FROM THE PTO:
BOX TOP COMPETITION UPDATE: Box Tops from Coach Bauman’s and Coach Roosma’s classes will
be collected until Friday, October 28th. The winner will be announced during morning announcements
on October 31st. The winning class earns a Super Bowl Party (date to be determined).
BUTTERBRAID & PUFFIN FALL FUNDRAISER: The fundraiser packets are now due. We will
continue to draw 2 names until the 25th, so continue to turn in your tickets! If someone would rather
donate money than purchase items, every $5.00 counts as 1 item. Any questions please contact Emily
Van Middendorp [email protected].
SUNNY D LABELS: Keep sending in your Sunny D labels. So far we have enouth labels to give 10
teachers a set of books. Turn in day for this year is November 23rd. We will continue to collect Sunny
D labels after the above listed date, they will be kept, sorted and put towards next years
classroom/library books.
TRUNK OR TREAT: Trunk or Treat 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Friday, October 28th is Purple Pride Friday!! Last regular home game vs. Lynden Christian.

Padres / estudiantes / maestros se llevará a cabo durante la semana del 17-22. Creemos que estas
conferencias fomentar la comunicación entre el hogar y la escuela y son un recurso valioso para usted y su

PARTES DE COSECHA: ¿Cómo celebramos la alegría de comunidad de la clase a Sumas primaria durante la
temporada de siega? La respuesta es que se ve diferente en cada salón de clases. Se celebra con una gran
variedad de actividades de tallado de calabaza para hacer espantapájaros para los juegos de la cosecha. La
amistad y el cuidado de los demás es siempre el centro de las celebraciones. Lea el boletín de aula para
obtener información específica acerca de las actividades de clase de su hijo. Todas las aulas estarán
compartiendo regalos especiales. NO aula, sin embargo, será vistiendo trajes o pintura de la cara.
