AerospaceEngineeringSeminar RegularizationforHighFidelityOrbit Propagation Hodei Urrutxua, New Frontiers Research Fellow at the University of Southampton (UK) The ever increasing needs of modern applications in astrodynamics demand for the highest fidelity orbital propagations and outputs of unprecedented accuracy. This calls for an accurate modelling of the orbital dynamics, including in the computations a variety of sources of orbital perturbations. However, even when all these are taken into account, there are still underlying fundamental issues that are often overlooked. Indeed, the non-stability of the orbital motion has been acknowledged from old times. This is an intrinsic problem to celestial mechanics and has enormous implications, making the future prediction of spaceborn objects particularly difficult. In this regards, the so called "regularization" techniques offer a promising approach to circumvent these issues and facilitate numerical orbit propagations that better preserve the fidelity of the orbital structure, while also improving the numerical performance.
