The topic for the last meeting was, “How do we share our culture, our faith?” We have 84 countries represented in our parish from all over the world. We want to share our story, our culture, our way of life, our faith, food, music and celebrations. The United States is a country of immigrants. Every person who comes into this country brings with him or her many gifts. Have you thought about that? We discover that in the differences there is richness. We had a glance in the festival. Even though we are from many different countries we have something in common; we are disciples of Jesus and followers of his Gospel. When the Gospel transforms our cultures then we have the inculturation and it is the goal of the evangelization. Last Sunday evening was held the Installation Mass for the Fatima Council at Church beginning with a Mass, every officer received its Jewel and then afterwards there was a banquet at the Council. We congratulate to the new members and wish them success in their endeavors. May God bless you all. "Once I accepted the loss of my sight," he explained, "and took the rehabilitation training available to me, I discovered I really can, with the aid of my cane or my dog, go anywhere I want to go quite safely, just as long as I don't forget or ignore the fact that I am blind. But when I do not act within the knowledge that I cannot see, it is then I get hurt, or in trouble." We need not be ashamed that we have a disease. It is no disgrace. No one knows exactly why some people become alcoholics [or drug addicts] while others don't. We did not try to get this illness. We did not deliberately, maliciously set out to do the things we were later ashamed of. We did them against our better judgment and instinct because we were really sick, and didn't even know it. We've learned that no good comes of useless regret and worry about how we got this way. The first step toward feeling better, and getting over our illness, is to stop using the substance that is causing our illness and accept help in order to do that. Anyone who wants it is welcome to a "free trial period" of this new concept of self. Afterward, you can choose if you want to take back your misery or keep the new picture of yourself. 33rd Annual Golden Wedding Jubilee The Office of Pro-Life and Family Life invites all married couples of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis who will celebrate 50 Years of marriage in 2016 to the 33rd Annual Golden Wedding Jubilee. Partnering with the U. S. Agency for International Development, CRS will implement the Envision Gaza 2020 project to alleviate continued suffering in the Gaza Strip. Not yet recovered from intense fighting in mid-2014 between Israel and Palestinian militant groups, Gaza may have the highest unemployment rate in the world. This project will provide humanitarian relief and early recovery assistance, especially to thousands of innocent people whose lives are defined by constant struggle, bringing vulnerable individuals and families a bit of hope. People will be provided an opportunity to engage in dignified, productive work. CRS has had a permanent office in Gaza since 1989, providing support in building transitional shelters; rehabilitating agricultural land; creating child-friendly spaces; distributing food and water; and offering psychosocial support. [email protected] 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time ∗ Ministry Quote Ministers of the Eucharist Ministry Ministers of the Eucharist started at Holy Spirit in 1972 or 1973. There were seven lay ministers for each of our five Masses. People were chosen by the Pastor or Associate Pastor. They had to be a practicing Catholic, in good standing, and had received Baptism, Confession, Communion, and Confirmation. They received training from the Pastor or his designee. There are currently 165 people, with eight to be trained. There are two teams for each of the six Masses, and a list of substitutes. We alternate serving on Sundays. We assist the presider “during Mass, because of the size of the congregation or a particular difficulty in which a celebrant finds himself.” Pope Paul VI explaining Facilitation Sacramental Eucharistic Communion in Particular Circumstances (1973). Eucharist Ministers are lay people serving the Catholic Church by distributing Holy Communion during Mass. We are involved in may thing including First Communions, Confirmations, Weddings, Funerals, Holy Week Liturgies, etc., throughout our parishioners’ lives. This is one of the most rewarding and at the same time humbling ministries available to the lay person. If you are interested in joining, please contact Helen Kite at 317-440-4647 or 317-894-8708. Ministers will be required to attend a t raining session in how to assist the priest in distribution of the Eucharist and be commissioned to become a Eucharistic Minister by the priest. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” -John 15:4 Volunteer Quotes “Being an Extra-ordinary Lay Minister of the Eucharist is one of the most rewarding and at the same time humbling ministries available to the lay person.” If you ever lose the ‘butterflies feeling in your stomach” at the enormity of what you are doing it is time to stop.” “Clean fingernails required.” Regarding any mistakes, “Just take your time and you’ll be fine.” Next week s Ministry of the Week is __Music Music Ministry__.
