LIVING AS STEWARDS
St. Paul advised us to pray constantly. In today’s Gospel, Jesus in effect
tells us the same thing. It is dificult for us to underestimate the power
of prayer. An active and consistent prayer life is a key factor in being a
good steward. St. Teresa of Avila had this to say about prayer: “The most
potent and acceptable prayer is the prayer that leaves the best effects. I
do not mean it must immediately ill the soul with desire… The best effects are those which are followed by actions…when the soul not only
desires the honor of God, but really
strives for it.” Her point is that prayer

FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,
Prayer is essential and a foundation for any mature spiritual
person. In all of the evangelical movements that came into being after
Vatican II, prayer is always a huge part of the participant’s life. For instance, in Cursillo we are taught our Christian life is like a three legged
stool. The three legs are study, piety and action. Piety is our prayer life.
How do I pray throughout the day? Do I have a routine? Do I call on God
as events or situations shows themselves? Do I mix up my prayer style?
Am I willing to try new styles of prayer? What is my disposition at the
Mass, one of our highest forms of prayer? Do I pray in public? Do my
children see me pray? Do I pray with scripture? I could go on and on.
During this next year I hope to offer you different ways to pray. We will
continue to offer charismatic healing Masses. We will offer three different 33 Day: do-it-yourself retreats. I will be offering contemplative
Masses (bring a pillow and a blanket.) I will also offer a time for Lectio
Divina to learn how to pray with Scripture. Everyone is welcome to become an Adorer of the Blessed Sacrament by choosing to spend one
hour a week with Jesus. This is a beautiful way to pray.

Durante este añ o que viene espero poder ofrecer diferentes maneras de
orar. Vamos a seguir ofreciendo misas de sanació n carismá ticas. Vamos a
ofrecer tres diferentes retiros que uno mismo hace en casa llamados 33
Dı́as. Estaré ofreciendo misas contemplativas (traer una almohada y una
cobija.) Tambié n voy a ofrecer un tiempo de Lectio Divina para aprender a
orar con la Escritura. Todo el mundo es bienvenido a convertirse en un
adorador del Santı́simo Sacramento por la elecció n de pasar una hora a la
semana con Jesú s. Esta es una hermosa manera de orar.
