Our Lady of the Hills Roman Catholic Church is inspired by the Holy Spirit and formed by the
Gospel, under the patronage of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Our mission is to preach and teach the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. As one family under God, the Father, we welcome all who come to us and
are particularly mindful of those in need.
Welcome ~ We welcome all newcomers to our parish family and request that you see an Usher
after mass for a registration packet or call the Parish Office. Please stop by the Hospitality Table
after Mass if you have any questions concerning the Parish.
Sacramental Information
Baptism - You must call the parish office to register for a Baptism Class. This must be done one
month prior to the scheduled class. Call the Parish Office for more information.

Anointing of the Sick
if you find yourself or a loved one as a patient in a hospital and are in need of the Sacrament of the
Anointing of the Sick, please call the office during business hours as soon as possible. Please do not
wait until your loved one is in critical condition. There can be unavoidable delays in a priest getting
to the hospital immediately. Also, if you plan on entering the hospital for a particular procedure,
you may receive the Sacrament of the Anointing, prior to admission, by making contact with the
parish office.

Queridos amigos,
April 10, 2016
Dear Friends,
In the Rite of Baptism, we become new members of
the Body of Christ, but our journey does not end there. The
decision to be baptized is followed by continued growth,
learning, and witness as members of the Body of Christ. Our
desire to continue to grow and develop as Christians finds
expression in Confirmation, when we renew our baptismal
promises and receive in a new way the gift of the Holy Spirit,
which strengthens our “bond” with the Church and its
members.
This coming Monday evening Bishop Guglielmone will
visit our parish to confirm 60 young adults. During the
confirmation ceremony the bishop will anoint the confirmandi
with the sacred Chrism which is mixed with fragrant spices to
remind them that their lives should give off the “Aroma of
Christ” just like the saints of the Church. That is why each young
person picks the name of a saint as a Confirmation name.
Monday night the confirmandi will receive an
outpouring of spiritual gifts for the building up the Church and
for their own spiritual growth. In order to receive this
wonderful sacrament of Confirmation the young people just
completed an in depth weekly preparation program. During the
preceding months, they increased their knowledge of the
Catholic faith, but they also deepened their relationship with
Christ.
One experience from the program that I’ll always
remember is the lesson on prayer. I was asked to lead the
Confirmation group and the Parish Youth Group in adoration
before the Blessed Sacrament. It’s hard to imagine that over
100 young people could sit so long in silence, but when young
people are in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament something
happens! I-phones and I-pads were taken away, no distractions,
there was no joking or giggling. Instead, you could hear the
quiet, the young people were listening!
As I walked and stopped intermittently among the
youth with Jesus exposed in the monstrance, I could hear the
sounds of weeping. That evening, the youth, away from their
distractions opened their hearts in prayer, and Jesus entered
and spoke with them.
So we congratulate these young men and women who
will be anointed with the Holy Spirit to be strengthened so they
can be better witnesses of Christ in word and deed. Filled with
the Spirit take what you learned during these months of
preparation out into the world and share with those in need,
but especially with other young people who need to hear the
Good News! May the Holy Spirit always be your Best Friend!
Congratulations to the parents and family members of
the confirmandi, and thank you to the Confirmation Team, and
all those who have helped in any way in making this day
possible.
God bless you,
Fr. John
Me
escuchando!
Padre John

Think of how tired, discouraged and frustrated the apostles
must have been in the Gospel reading
today. Then Jesus shows up and tells them to
try one more time. Because they were willing

trust in Jesus and do what He tells us to do we will receive His
abundant blessings! Allow the grace of God to strengthen,

Dear Parishioners of OLOH,
With the idea of making it easier and more convenient to
contribute to our Church the parish Finance Council has arranged
to set up E-giving for those who may be interested. You may
access the form from our website by clicking on E-giving on the
homepage. If you have questions please contact Marianne at 7727400 or [email protected]. Thank you.
Next week’s 2nd Collection is for the Catholic Home
Mission Appeal
The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next
week. One way that this appeal works to support home
mission dioceses in the United States is by supporting
seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of
seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses,
because educating each seminarian costs $35-40K per
year. Your support is needed for these young men so that
they might go back and serve their parishes. Please
strengthen the Church at home by making a generous
gift to next week’s appeal.

* * * * OUR LADY OF THE HILLS BLOOD DRIVE * * * *
The Knights of Columbus will be conducting its 2nd Blood Drive of 2016 season on Sunday, April 24, 2016, after all masses
(8:00 AM to 1:30 PM). This is a great way for you, the OLH Parish, to continue supporting our community by helping to save
lives with every pint of blood donated – To-date (since 2003) a total of 2043 pints have been donated.
Please support the Knights as you did this past January – 47pints of blood were donated.
Let’s make it our goal to improve that to 70+ as done previously. The Red Cross considers the OLH their BEST CHURCH Drive –
Let’s hold up our reputation.
As with our previous blood drives, the Knights will provide a complimentary breakfast to all blood donors.
Please call Sam Allen at 749-2571 to make an appointment to donate blood.
* * * * OUR LADY OF THE HILLS DONACION DE SANGRE * * * *
“I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Mathew 25:38
A group of men from various Christian Faith Communities, as well as men from our parish, are having a Kairos
retreat.
[Born out of the Catholic Curculio retreats meant to strengthen the Christian Faith of those who attend] and
bring the faith to those without or struggling with their faith.]
-42 inmates plus a team of 44 men from several churches will be at Broad River Prison from Thursday, April
28th till Sunday, May 1st to take part in this retreat to bring Jesus to all.
As a part of this we give a small bag of 2 or 3 cookies to each of the 1200 inmates with a Christian message
each of the three evenings we are there –we need thousands of cookies
If you can please help bake some cookies –enclose them in larger clear gallon or quart size plastic bags and they will be
included in this offering [they will be put in smaller bags at the prison for delivery. Cookies can be baked ahead of time and
frozen. This can be a fun project for a small group to get together and do something good for your church. We will take store
bought cookies – Please get the cookies to the small kitchen area in front of the church office(Atrium) by Wednesday
evening April 27th -- THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUING SUPPORT -LETS SHOW WITH THIS SMALL OFFERING
THAT SOMEONE CARES As Jesus Cares!
We are experiencing many new men to BRCI as The State System moves people around and a younger group that have not
experienced the cookie gifts in the past! PLEASE HELP-------------- QUESTIONS DAVID SCHIRATO 414-5645
