Dear Past, Present and Prospective Member,
WELCOME!
We invite you to be part of the 58th season at WFSC of Erie. Our non-profit organization, Westminster
Figure Skating Club of Erie, provides and promotes ice skating for all ages and levels, in and around the Erie
area. We not only promote skating as a sport and artistic performance but as an activity that promotes health
while developing discipline, confidence and social skills. The Westminster FSC of Erie continues working to
improve its programs to accompany our families’ busy schedules so this year the club sessions will have an
upgrade format with more instructional time available. We hope this encourages our skaters to grow into the
next figure skating competitor to represent Erie, PA.
The Westminster FSC of Erie has many generous and supportive people that volunteer their time, talents
and energy to help sustain the club. Please contact any Board Member or chairperson if you have any question
or would like to help.
We are proud of our Club and encourage all of our members to share the opportunities WFSC of Erie
has to offer by bringing friends to skate.

Saturday Mornings from 10:15-11:45am. Classes start on September 12th. Skaters are placed in
classes based on skating ability where they will receive group lessons in Basic Skating Skills.
Skaters also participate in the Holiday Party on December 19th and if they choose, the annual
Holiday Show on December 12th and Spring Ice Show on April 9 and 10. NOTE: No skating on
September 26, October 10, December 26 or February 6. On-Ice Student Assistant available for
new skaters.
Tuesday Evening from 6:30-8:00pm. Classes start on September 8th. Skaters are placed in
classes based on skating ability where they will receive group lessons in Basic Skating Skills.
Skaters also participate in the Halloween Party on October 27th and if they choose, the annual
Holiday Show on December 12th and Spring Ice Show on April 9 and 10. NOTE: No skating on
September 29, November 10, December 22 or 29. Limited On-Ice Student Assistant available.
Skating School session are available for individual skaters to contract ice time for practice or
private lessons. Ice time is contracted in 30 minute time slots. Skaters may arrange for private
lessons with a member of our coaching staff during skating school sessions. Fall and Winter
school terms are held at the JMC Ice Arena from September through March and typically run
between 4:15-5:45pm on weekdays. Spring and Summer terms are held at the Mercyhurst Ice
Center.
Ice Crystals – The Ice Crystals is an exhibition skating team that performs at Mercyhurst
hockey games, the Holiday and Spring Ice Show and Club parties. Auditions are held each year
to fill positions on the team. Skaters must have passed Basic Skill Level 3. Practice is Saturday
10:15-10:35am (They will have shared ice).
Westminsterettes – The Westminsterettes is an exhibition skating team that performs at Erie
Otters games, Mercyhurst hockey games, the Holiday and Spring Ice Show and Club parties.
Auditions are held each year to fill positions on the team. Skaters must have passed Basic Skill
Level 6. Practice is Tuesday 6:15-6:45pm (They will have private and shared ice).
Westminster FSC of Erie’s Holiday Show will be held on December 12th at the Mercyhurst Ice
Center. Skaters will be asked to participate by invitation at a minimal fee. A portion of the
Holiday Show Admission money will be donated to a local charity. Check our website and/or bulletin boards
for more information.
Springtime
on Ice
Springtime on Ice is the WFSC of Erie’s annual ice show. All members who have participated
in one of the Club Session or skating at least 1½ hrs per week in Skating School are invited to
participate in the spring ice show at a minimal fee. This year’s show is scheduled at Mercyhurst
Ice Center on April 9 and 10, dress rehearsal on April 8.
Testing
The Westminster FSC of Erie is a member of United States Figure Skating (USFS). The USFS
defines guidelines for tracking the progress of skaters. 14 Basic Skill Levels (Basic Skills 1
through Freestyle 6) have been designated. The club periodically schedules testing during Club
sessions to test skaters on these Basic Skills, which are taught during group classes.
Additionally, the WFSC of Erie schedules official USFS test for Moves in the Field, Freestyle
and Dance for competitive and more advanced skaters.

Westminster FSC of Erie offers all new skaters an opportunity to try out our group lessons for
an introductory rate of 5 lessons for $75. Skaters can begin lessons the week they sign-up. At
the end of the 5 weeks, skaters may use the $75 as credit toward a club session fee when you
join as a Club member.

Amy Coffman - Amy is a member of USFS and PSA. She has been a member of WFSC for the
past 27 years and represented the club competitively for 10 years. She has completed her Senior
Moves in the Field, Junior Freestyle, Pre-Gold Dance, and First Figure Tests. In her twelve years
of coaching, Amy has successfully coached skaters from beginner through Senior Moves in the
Field, Novice Freestyle, and Silver Dance tests, and has also choreographed for club shows and
competitions.

Kassandra Bidwell - Kassandra is a member of USFS and PSA. She has been a member of the
Westminster FSC of Erie for 20 years. She has completed her Senior Moves in the Field and
Junior Freestyle and was a competitive skater for 10 years. Kassandra has coached group basic
skills and private lessons for 10 years. In addition, she coached the Westminsterettes and Ice
Crystals performance teams for a combination of 5 years and assisted for 5 years. Kassandra has
also been a volunteer coach for the Gliding Stars of Erie program for 7 years and a coach with the
program for 4 years. Kassandra has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science
from Gannon University.

Brittany Smith - Brittany is a member of USFS and PSA She has been a member is Westminster
FSC of Erie for two years. She had been a member of San Diego FSC in California since 1997
before moving to Erie in 2010. She has achieved her Gold medals in Moves in the Field and
Freestyle and has a Pre-Gold in Dance. She competed Pre-Preliminary through Senior freestyle
and artistic levels. During her competitive years, she received the William O. Smythe Memorial
Trophy for Artistic Excellence twice. She also performed in many shows, as well as
choreographed for recitals and show programs. She has taught group classes for 12 years and
private lessons for 11 years.
Areas of private lessons include: Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Dance, Choreography.

Breanne Forcier - Breanne is a member of USFS and PSA. She has been a member of
Westminster FSC of Erie for the past 20 years. She has passed her Junior Moves in the Field and
is currently working on her Novice Freestyle and Senior Moves in the Field. She has volunteered
for 5 years at WFSC of Erie’s Basic Skills Club sessions and also coached at Center Ice in North
Canton Ohio while attending college at Akron University. Breanne is a recent graduate of
Edinboro University and is currently attending Edinboro University for a master as a Reading
Specialist.

Danielle Mather - Danielle is a member of USFS and PSA. She joined WFSC of Erie in 2012
and had been a member of Oswego FSC in Oswego, New York for 13 years. She has passed her
Gold Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Dance and Canadian Gold Dance; she has also passed 4 of
the International Dances. She was a Learn to Skate volunteer for 5 years, a Learn to Skate
instructor for 2 years and a Junior Coach for one year at Oswego FSC. She has been coaching for
WFSC of Erie for 4 years. Danielle is EMT certified and currently attending Gannon University
where she is studying to be a Physician Assistant.

Skills.

Kathy Elias - Kathy is a member of the USFS, PSA and CER Category A coach and ISI Member
and Silver Certified Judge. She is a Double Gold Medalist in Figures and Freestyle and Pre Gold
Dance. Kathy attended University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has coached in Massachusetts
where she was the Director of Physical Education skating classes, Michigan, Louisiana, where
she was the Director of Basic Skills and Adult skating classes, Pennsylvania, where she was
Coach Liaison and Ohio. With 30 years of coaching, Kathy has coached skaters from beginner
through Jr. National and National levels.

Karalyn Bajoras - Karalyn is a member of the USFS and PSA. She started skating with the
Westminster Figure Skating Club in 2000. She skated competitively and went to the North
Atlantic Regional Championships at the Intermediate and Novice levels. She passed her Senior
Moves in the Field Test, Senior Freestyle Test and Pre Gold Ice Dances. She also trained in Style,
On and Off Ice Conditioning, Ballet and Jazz dance. She skated with the Westminsterettes and
the Elite Edges, was an assistant coach with the club's group lessons for 4 years and started
coaching in 2010. She has taught group lessons, private lessons, stroking/style classes and
choreography. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion, Associate’s Degree in
Business Administration and is currently interning at the Erie County Department of Health.

2015 - 2016 Membership Fees
Full Club Membership: entitles every member of the immediate family to participate in
club activities. All skaters who attend either the Saturday or Tuesday Club Session or participate
in Skating School will be registered in the USFS. Additionally, each family will receive
SKATING MAGAZINE. Membership also covers expenses like Basic Club Management
Expense (USFS Club Dues, Printing, Postage, Website, P.O. Box and Telephone), Storage Unit
and Publicity. One adult member of each family will be granted voting privileges and be eligible
to hold a Club office. Full Membership is REQUIRED for a family member to participate in a
Club Group Session, Skating School, Exhibition Team, Competitions, Ice Shows, Exhibition
and/or Testing. Membership Fee is paid once per family each year.
Introductory Club Membership: entitles every member of the immediate family to
participate in club activities (First Year ONLY). Introductory Members have all the privileges of
a Full Membership. Membership is REQUIRED for a skater to participate in a Club Group
Session, Skating School, Exhibition Team, Competitions, Ice Shows, Exhibition and/or Testing.

Collegiate Club Membership: entitles a college student to participate in club activities.
Collegiate Members has all the privileges of a Full Membership. Membership is REQUIRED for
a skater to participate in a Club Group Session, Skating School, Exhibition Team, Competitions,
Ice Shows, Exhibition and/or Testing. Membership Fee is paid once per skater each year.
Associate Club Membership: is open to the following individuals. Skating and NonSkating persons who wish to support the Club, USFS Judges and its Coaches. All Associate
members will be registered in the USFS, (if not already registered through another club. Skating
privileges may be granted by special approval of the Board of Directors).

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. Skaters that wish to participate in the Club’s ice shows must be a Member of the Club and skate in at least one of
the following sessions: Saturday Club Session, Tuesday Club Session or contracted 1 ½ hrs per week in the Fall
and Winter Skating School. Show parts will be assigned according to skater’s test levels.
2. Any skater under 8 years of age must have a parent or guardian present at all Club Sessions.
3. Membership and Session Fees are non-refundable. In the event that a skater is hurt or becomes ill and is unable to
skate for an extend period of time, they may submit a written request for a Medical Refund to the Board of
Directors and accompanied by a doctor’s excuse.
4. Remember that the WFSC of Erie is a non-profit organization. The Club is run and maintained by its members. In
order to keep costs as low as possible we rely on the participation of every member. Please donate your time to
help on the various committees throughout the year.
5. Make all checks out to WFSC of Erie. There will be a $20 charge for any checks returned by the bank.
6. Membership Fee and Club Session Skating Fee maybe combined on one check. Skating School, Exhibition
Teams, Ice Shows and etc. require a separate check for each program.
7. Donations to the Club are tax deductible.

ARTICLE II PURPOSE
Section 1. The purposes of the club are to encourage the instruction, practice and advancement of the members in
compulsory figures, moves in the field, freestyle, pair skating, dancing and all types of figure skating; to encourage
and cultivate the spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters; to sponsor, to produce or to cooperate in the production
of amateur ice carnivals, show, and competitions’ and generally to do and perform such other acts as may be
necessary, advisable, proper or incidental in the realization of the objects and purposes of this organization; and to
carry out the general policies of United States Figure Skating.
