A Message from Fr. Cliff:
We have received the following from Bishop Farrell: "It is
prudent to remind those attending Mass that it is up to
each individual to decide whether to drink from the cup at
Communion. Those who suspect symptoms that may signal
impending illness should refrain from doing so. Likewise,
during the Sign of Peace, people may offer simpler gestures
(smile, simple bow of the head) to accompany the words of
peace instead of a handshake or hug." This is just good
sense. If you are ill the obligation to attend Mass is
removed. Unless advised otherwise by your doctor, get flu
shots! Stay well!

Unserviceable flags continue to be collected in the flag box which is now
located inside the Usher’s Room. If you are not familiar with the location
of the Usher’s Room, please ask an usher for directions. Used cell
phones, inkjet cartridges, digital cameras, camcorders, and hand held
electronic games can also be placed in this box. The flags will be disposed of in a proper manner. All electronic equipment will be recycled by
an environmentally responsible company and the proceeds from the
recycling will be donated to Special Olympics.
Special Note: If you see a flag on an establishment that is in need of
replacement, please talk with the store manager, thank him for flying the
Stars and Stripes, and ask that the unserviceable flag be replaced and
given to you. You should then place the flag into the flag box identified
above. The flag is the symbol of our nation and it is important that it be
displayed and maintained properly. If you would prefer not to speak with
the store manager, please provide the necessary information (store
name and location) to either Bill Ptacek on 972-424-6507 or Paul Krusac

DE OCTUBRE DEL
2014
OCTOBER 19, 2014
¡Celebren!
October 27, 2014
27 de octubre, 2014
For parishes in the United States the weekend masses on the
weekend of October 25 and 26 have been designated to be
Priesthood Sunday. It is an opportunity for us to
express gratitude to our Pastor and Parochial Vicars for the services and spiritual guidance they
provide us. On that weekend cards or letters may
be deposited in receptacles which will be located
in the Bethany Narthex. Please join in leaving your
notes of appreciation.
Our Pastor, Father Cliff, came to us with a skill set
and total dedication which have been uniquely
suited to our needs. His efforts to unify the huge
cultural variety of our parishioners have
been extensive and widely successful. With great generosity
he provides us with spiritual guidance that is illuminating and
reflects a deeply loving understanding of our human nature. His dedication and extensive involvement in the operation of our school is without peer. His addition of the
Bethany Narthex, the Columbarium, and the badly
needed new office space, provided when he acquired
the old bank building at a nominal cost, represent
major improvements to our physical plant. We are
deeply indebted to him.
We have come to know Fr. Jack Hopka as the celebrant at weekday as well as weekend masses. For
many of us he is a treasured spiritual counselor. He is
our representative when a call comes in for a priest to
visit hospital patients and the quality of his service in
this respect is deeply appreciated. Many have enjoyed the
time he spends in the Bethany Narthex chatting with parishioners about questions and issues that may be of interest to
them. He is a Canon Lawyer who devotes two days each month
in San Antonio working on Marital cases. He blesses us with
his contributions to our parish.
Fr. Henry Erazo came to us recently after serving for seven
years as Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral Shrine
of the Virgin of Guadalupe. He was ordained
on February 20, 1998 in his home country of
Bolivia. Eventually he was asked by his Bishop
to come to the United States and serve here in
the Diocese of Dallas. With us he is mostly
involved with the liturgy for our Spanish speaking parishioners. When asked what he finds
most important in his ministry he replied:
offering the people the sacraments of
Reconciliation and Eucharist. We welcome you
Father Henry and we wish you the very best
during your stay here.
poder expresar gratitud a nuestro Pastor y Vicarios
nuestra naturaleza humana.

build the Church in Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church, as well as local churches

areas across our world. Through the work of
these churches, and their witness to Christ, the
poor receive practical help and experience God’s love and mercy,
His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your daily
prayers. Please come prepared next weekend to give generously
