Dinnah Escanilla Principal October 8, 2014 Dear Parents/Guardians: The health and safety of our students remains our top priority in the Dallas Independent School District. Because of that, our staff is continuing to closely monitor developments related to the Ebola virus. We were saddened to learn today of the passing of Mr. Thomas Duncan, the patient who was diagnosed with the virus just over a week ago. Our thoughts are with his family and those who knew Mr. Duncan. We understand that this development may raise additional questions surrounding the Ebola virus. Dallas ISD has posted a number of online resources on its website http://www.dallasisd.org/healthupdates that families may find helpful regarding the virus. To date, the five students who possibly had contact with Mr. Duncan still have not shown any signs or symptoms of the virus and are not considered contagious. They continue to be served through the district’s Homebound Program during the 21-day observation period. Es por eso que nuestro personal continúa monitoreando los hechos relacionados con el virus del Ébola. Nos entristece saber que el Sr. Thomas Duncan, el paciente que fuera diagnosticado con el virus del Ébola apenas hace una semana, ha fallecido. Nuestros pensamientos están con su familia y con las personas que conocían al Sr. Duncan. Comprendemos que este suceso puede causar preguntas adicionales acerca del virus de Ébola.
