Friday, October 233d, 2015 MUN NEWS, COLEGIO ARJÍ VILLAHERMOSA, TABASCO, MÉXICO GETTING TO KNOW THE SECRETARY GENERAL By Daniela Revueltas Ficachi What inspired you to want to be Secretary General? My inspiration was my mother, my friends and my teachers. They believed in me before I did. I wanted to give the delegates what they deserved and in order to do so I had to become SG. I wanted to prove myself that I was capable of doing something as big as this. Demonstrate that I have the skills and aptitude, even though I’m just a teenager. Tell us about you experience in Models of the UN. I have participated in five models, three as a delegate, one as a chair of UNEP, and this year as the Secretary General of MUNARJI VIII. As the chair of UNEP last year, we had a great committee and we won the prize Gabriela Esther Rodríguez Conde, for best chair. SECRETARY GENERAL of MUN ARJI VIII Why do you like MUN? I believe this is an opportunity, it’s the beginning of something bigger. Everybody wants a change but why doesn’t anyone actually make it happen? As Mahatma Gandhi said “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. I enjoy listening to ideas and opinions, but what I enjoy the most, is that delegates take this model seriously. They are willing to do whatever it takes to come up with a great solution and it’s satisfying to see how people develop negotiations and communication skills in this model. So far, how has your experience been in this Model? This past few months have been of the hardest work, but it all has worked out with incredible results. Every time I think about the first or second day, I can’t stop smiling. It reminds me of all the happiness that I felt when everything was going perfectly, and even though we had some technical problems I had to face it and continue. For me it was really challenging. I’m very proud of my secretariat and the committees, because they are making this Model memorable. Volume 3, Issue 2 Friday, October 23rd, 2015 MUN NEWS, COLEGIO ARJÍ VILLAHERMOSA, TABASCO, MÉXICO MIX-UP By Sol Zurita González As we all know the mix-up is a party where everyone, staff, delegates, photographers, chairs, advisors and the Secretariat, gather to relax and get to know each other. On Wednesday, after the first session of hard work, we all enjoyed snacks and music that cheered up everybody and made some delegates demonstrate their dancing style. For the first time in MUNARJI we had as dinner delicious paninis and esquites that our guest said were a great choice. Other snacks such as chips, cupcakes, cookies, and soft drinks were also offered. Delegates also had the chance to get themselves photographed with friends, having the photos as lasting souvenirs. COFFEE BREAKS By Daniela Revueltas Ficachi In the Coffee Breaks delegates gather in the court of the school, relax on the couches, or simply stand up, talking about how they are doing. It is time to enjoy snacks and meals, such as cookies, pizza, chips, breadsticks, etc.; to take photos, and of course, to get to know people. Coffee Breaks offer the opportunity to share ideas with students from different schools and even the same school, make new friends or allies.
