From the Pastor`s Desk - Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE CATHOLIC CHURCH
HELOTES, TEXAS
Grant, almighty God, that we may celebrate
the heartfelt devotion these days of joy,
which we keep in honor of the risen Lord, and
that what we relive in remembrance
we may always hold to in what we do.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

You are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church,
and the jaws of death shall not prevail
against it.
(Matthew 16:18)
From the Pastor’s Desk
A Happy Mother's Day celebration to our mothers
and their families. Mother's Day commemorates all
women; because all women through their gifts of care
and love nurture us throughout our lives.
Congratulations to the Spanish-speaking children
who received their 1st Holy communion yesterday.
Our groups for sacramental preparations are
coming to a close for this year. As the summer
approaches we begin the registrations for next year's
programs. Check the calendar for those registration
dates.
Many people have called the parish office about
renting the facilities at the Annex property. The
building committee continues to work on a rental
agreement and schedule of fees for the Annex
facilities. We are almost at the conclusion of the
process.
Many thanks to the volunteers who helped us in
preparing for the "Big Give SA" event at our Annex
property.
Blessings to all, Fr. Carlos

THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
This week’s sharing: The Lord Has a
Special Love for Widows
Source: Pope Francis’ general audience on
September 17, 2013
Pope Francis pointed out that “Jesus, “had great
compassion” for the widow of Naim who had lost her
son; he explained that “Jesus went on to say he knew
what it meant to be a widow at that time,” and noted
“that the Lord has a special love for widows, He cares
for them.”
…”The widow is an icon of the Church, because the
Church, is in a sense, widow” “The Bridegroom is
gone and she walks in history, hoping to find him, to
meet with Him – and she will be His true bride. In the
meantime she - the Church - is alone! As he told the
boy at Naim to get up from his deathbed, the Pope
added, many times Jesus also tells us to get up,
“when we are dead because of sin and we are going to
ask for forgiveness.” And then what does Jesus do
“when He forgives us, when He gives us back our
life?” He returns us to our mother.

regresa a nuestra vidas? Nos regresa a las entrañas
de nuestra madre.
