There will be a Consecration to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Ceremony at all Masses during
the weekend of October 10 & 11, 2015. This will
be a brief ceremony and all are invited to make
this Consecration of our Parish and ourselves.
Following every Mass will be a Holy Anointing of
the Sick also.
The whole parish and any individual member of
the parish may consecrate (entrust) themselves
to Our Blessed Mother. This holds much power
spiritually. When we ask Mary to be our Mother by consecrating/entrusting ourselves to her, we place ourselves under her care and
protection, and allow her to embrace us even more closely.
In doing this we are following the example of Jesus himself. After all, He was the first person to entrust himself to her. St. John Paul II
explains, “for it must be recognized that before anyone else it was God himself, the Eternal Father, who entrusted himself to the Virgin
of Nazareth, giving her his own Son in the mystery of the Incarnation” (Redemptoris Mater, 39).
The essence of Marian Consecration is to give Mary our “Yes.” We are saying: “I give you permission to use all your motherly wisdom
and power to form me and each member of my family, group or ministry into another Christ” (Fr. Michael Gaitly, MIC). “My children,
with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you” (Gal 4:19; see also Ephesians 4:13).
This motherhood of Mary is not some vague or abstract sort of thing. It’s concrete and personal. And even though it is universal, it’s
also intensely personal. Mary is your mother. She is my mother. Mary is uniquely, particularly, personally your mother and my mother,
and she doesn’t lose us in the crowd...And as a mother, just like at the Wedding Feast of Cana (John 2:1-12), she wishes the power of her
Son to be manifested so her maternal task is to point out to us those things which must be done for this to happen.
At Fatima, The Blessed Mother said “The Lord wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. If what I say is done,
many souls will be saved and there will be peace.” It is our belief that this consecration will only deepen our love for Jesus, lead to conversion, and bring much peace to ourselves as individuals and to the entire Parish community.
Let's always remember the words of Saint Maximilian Kolbe “Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love
her more than Jesus did.” Thanks and we look forward to your consecration. Blessings, Dcn. Pat
Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Heavenly Mother Mary, refuge of sinners, we come to you today to offer ourselves to you and consecrate our lives and our Parish, St.
Catherine of Alexandria, to your Immaculate Heart. In this consecration we offer you our bodies and souls with all the weaknesses of
our human nature. We offer you our hearts with all affections and desires, our prayers, works, joys and our sufferings. We offer you
every temptation that comes to us and to our parish so that all our thoughts and desires may be purified through your holy intercession.
Our Queen and our Mother, we offer you in consecration all sufferings which come into our lives, both physical and spiritual. We offer
you especially our death with all that will accompany it. Please accept all this, Blessed Mother, and take all into your Immaculate Heart
as we give to you irrevocably all that we are and all that we have, together with all our possessions. We offer you our families and all
who are near and dear to us. Take them all into your Immaculate Heart and keep us forever in the presence of your Son Jesus.
We renew today the vows of our Baptism and Confirmation. Keep us ever faithful to God and to our Holy Church, and loyal in obedience to the Holy Father, our Pope, our Bishop and our Pastor. Our desire is to participate in the Sacrifice of Holy Mass and receive Him
frequently. We attach special importance to the first Saturday of the month in reparation to your Immaculate Heart and we will work
for the conversion of sinners. We will strive to live daily the spirit of Eucharist in all we do.
O Queen of the Angels, we will always honor you as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Send the Angels to keep us always in your love and
in the union of grace with your Divine Son. Send forth the Angels to assist us in spreading devotion to your Immaculate Heart so that
through your intercession there may be peace in the world and in the Church, and the Kingdom of Christ may come on earth as it is in
Heaven.
And may Almighty God bless you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

YOUTH MINISTRY AND
FAMILY EVANGELIZATION
October 10-11
Information on Youth, Young Adults, Mission trips, Retreats and Family Catechesis
What does Comprehensive Youth Ministry look like here?
From the USCCB’s document, Renewing the Vision:
The ministry of Catechesis helps young people enrich and expand
their understanding of the Scriptures and the sacred tradition and
their application to life today, and live more faithfully as disciples of
Jesus Christ in their daily lives, especially through a life of prayer,
justice, and loving service. Genuine faith is a total response of the
whole person—mind, heart, and will. The ministry of catechesis
fosters growth in Catholic faith in all three dimensions—trusting
(heart), knowing and believing (mind), and doing (will). The goal
should be to have all Catholic youth involved in some program of
catechesis.
There is still time to enroll your child today and join other parents
on a journey of faith for yourself. What a wonderful gift to your
family. As always, contact us if there are questions and issues you
need help with. We won’t urn any family away!

afectos y deseos, nuestras oraciones, trabajos, alegrías y nuestros sufrimientos.
Reflecting on God’s Word
When the rich young man in this week’s Gospel asks Jesus what he
must do to inherit eternal life, the answer is simply “nothing.” Or to
put it another way, “You don’t have to do anything to earn it. Simply
do not let anything get in the way. Don’t kill, or commit adultery, or
steal, or lie, or defraud, or any such things that tend to muddy the
focus of our lives.” Beyond that it seems we don’t have to do anything.
But, the young man protests, he has avoided all these things. And so
the reply Jesus then offers is, in effect, don’t let your riches get in the
way either.
Easier said than done, and more difficult than imagined. More
difficult than threading a needle with camel hair when the hair is still
on the camel; more difficult than getting a camel inside your house,
whether through your pet door or your back door or maybe even your
garage door. Camels don’t shrink. Neither does our hold on riches.
Both tend to get in the way.
So what does one then do, we ask. Curious—that was the same
response in Jesus’ day as well. And over the centuries believers have
sought ways to keep wealth in perspective, or at least some things that
might help do so. Yet it’s all about trying to make sure that as little as
possible gets in the way of finding God among the mishmash of life.
