They were of “one heart and one mind.” They had no rich or poor among them, for they shared all necessary items with one another. Second Reading: I John 5:1-6 John explains that we become God’s children by believing in Jesus. When we love God and concern ourselves only with pleasing God, our faith is strong enough to conquer the evil in our world. “Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Jesus I trust in You!” Gospel: John 20:19-31 Jesus appeared to the disciples despite locked doors, breathed on them so that they could receive the Holy Spirit, and gave them the power to forgive sins in his name. Thomas, who was not present, refused to believe without seeing Jesus for himself. Jesus appeared again when Thomas was present, and told him, “Blest are they who have not seen and have believed.” Living the Easter experience was truly special for the initial Christian community. Imagine how they shared the story of their experience of the Risen Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Words as ‘power’, ‘witness’ and ‘favor’ mark that special time in the early church. The gospel calls the missionary disciples to the same witness of the same Christ, empowered by the same Spirit, and endowed with the same favor or grace. It was not a phenomenon only for first century Christians. The Easter experience we are living today calls us to become more aware of the gifts of the Spirit and grace, to bear witness, address the needs of those around us, and provide what gifts we have for those who need a deeper spiritual life, a community of believers. This season of the church year calls us to make the same Risen Christ present for ourselves and others. We find Him in our parishes, reflection groups and social gatherings. I would like to take the time to wholeheartedly thank everyone who made our Holy Week such a prayerful and meaningful time in our Parish. Thank you to all our loyal parishioners who blessed us at every moment during Holy Week. I would also like to thank all our Clergy, Religious, Choirs, Ushers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Staff, Decorating Committees and all our Parish Ministries for making this Holy Week such a spectacular liturgical time of the year. It takes a community to build a family and I have been blessed by all of you and your generous yes to serving the Lord with all your skills and talents. Thank You. Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12 ,2015 Divine Mercy Chaplet Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament 3:00pm in the Main Church A MESSAGE FROM POPE FRANCIS “Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought of how the Church may render more clear her mission to be a witness to mercy; and we have to make this journey. It is a journey which begins with spiritual conversion. Therefore, I have decided to announce an Extraordinary Jubilee which has at its center the mercy of God. It will be a Holy Year of Mercy. We want to live in the light of the word of the Lord: “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (cf. Lk 6:36). And this especially applies to confessors! So much mercy! This Holy Year will commence on the next Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and will conclude on Sunday, 20 November 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and living face of the Father's mercy. I entrust the organization of this Jubilee to the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, in order that it may come to life as a new step on the Church’s journey in her mission to bring the Gospel of mercy to each person. I am confident that the whole Church, which is in such need of mercy for we are sinners, will be able to find in this Jubilee the joy of rediscovering and rendering fruitful God’s mercy, with which we are all called to give comfort to every man and every woman of our time. Do not forget that God forgives all, and God forgives always. Let us never tire of asking forgiveness. Let us henceforth entrust this Year to the Mother of Mercy, that she turn her gaze upon us and watch over our journey: our penitential journey, our year-long journey with an open heart, to receive the indulgence of God, to receive the mercy of God.” Pope Francis Monday: Acts 4:23-31; Jn 3:1-8 Tuesday: Acts 4:32-37; Jn 3:7b-15 Wednesday: Acts 5:17-26; Jn 3:16-21 Thursday: Acts 5:27-33; Jn 3:31-36 Friday: Acts 5:34-42: Jn 6:1-15 Saturday: Acts 6:1-7; Jn 6:16-21
